Picked up a book in a book exchange back in Botswana called St Jude's by an Australian woman who set up a school in Tanzania. Her school is for the very poorest kids.

As I was in Arusha, I asked if I could visit and so I was able to spend a special day with these kids.

In the Golden Temple in Amritsar anyone can have a free meal, anytime. The meal includes a chapati, dal and tap water. A dal is a spicy stew of pulses, typically chickpeas.

Around 30,000 pilgrims visit the Golden Temple every day.

Not bad, its vegetarian rice, dhal, a chapati and those sweets.

Philosophy:

For us minions, only a Roti can fulfill our requirement of energy. You may eat burgers with extra cheese but that just won't do; just like you may use alternate sources for energy in place of the Sun.

Therefore,

(a Roti = the Sun)

:)

This is a business which is only fund in Dzaleka refugee camp. People do travel long distances to the camp to look for chapati only. This has improved people's lives which now is helping a lot of Dzaleka refugees to not relay on the food given by WFP

Wearing TRADITIONAL CLOTHES when I visit a different country is something I love doing as a way of interaction. But there are many other ways 😜

Here are some pictures from my interaction with the Kalasha/ Kalash tribe cleaning and preparing the rice for cooking, sewing, playing with the kids and helping cooking plain chapati 😜

Begun Bhaja is roasted brinjal rings. The rings are wrapped with cumin, garlic paste with salt and are roasted on a pan at low heat. It tastes great with chapatis as well as steamed rice.

The Himalayan marmot is one of the highest living mammals in the world. Himalayan marmots are found from 4000 m to the upper edge of the vegetated zone (ca 5500 m) in the mountains of Nepal, parts of India, and parts of Tibet. A subspecies of the Himalayan marmot, M. himalyana robusta, is one of the largest marmots and may weigh over 6 kg.

Virtually nothing is known about this species who goes by the common name "Tibetan snow pig".

The only US holiday named after an animal, Groundhog Day, is named after a marmot.

We left early for Asia’s longest lake and most beautiful lake among all. We reached Changla Pass through a narrow and tough road from Leh. It is the third highest pass in the world at height of 5289m. There is a army tea canteen which provides all the travelers Black tea and dry fruits at no cost. Beyond Changla another breath taking valley opens up along with some greenery where you can see Wild Himalayan Horses, Ibexes, Tibetan Antelopes, Himalayan Wolves, Black necked Cranes and our own favourite Himalayan Marmot (Phiya in local language). This fat rat, size of a small dog, from squirrel family was fearless and friendly. I game him my partner’s parantha and chocolates. We stayed some quality time with him in his wild while returning.
