Exam time, work, marathon preparation.... it is just a lot and the creativity for the photos and the activity on flickr leave much to be desired... in a few weeks this will surely be better again

In early March 2025, I embarked on a rewarding astrophotography project to capture Markarian’s Chain, a stunning sequence of galaxies nestled within the Virgo Cluster. The first night, under the pristine skies of the Hoher List Observatory, I focused on gathering luminance data. The following evening, back home under my suburban sky in Koblenz, I successfully captured the RGB channels.Combining these sessions, I produced an image that I'm truly proud of, showcasing the intricate beauty of this galactic formation.

Got up early to take this shot. I had already set my alarm a few days before but woke up to hear the sound of rain, so got back into bed.
But this morning seemed to be fine and as the Sun slowly came up, the light got better and better including the clouds.

I find the ripples look quite hypnotic, don't they? Those rusty and menacing chains adds to the experience. A minimalistic shot for being one of mine, but I've considered doing more of them. Might try it out when I go to Singapore.

Markarian’s Chain is a string of galaxies located towards the center of the Virgo Galaxy Cluster. Markarian’s Chain contains at least 7 different galaxy members that appear to move coherently: notably 2 huge, bright lenticular galaxies known as M84 and M86. There are actually hundreds of galaxies here, and of course lots of planets. Many of these are bigger than our own Milkyway Galaxy. These galaxies are 50-70 million light-years away from us. Just the M87 galaxy, (part of this chain) has several TRILLION stars within it. Even though they are that far away, they still have a gravitational effect on our Milkyway Galaxy, of course, then on us....but wait, there's more!
M87 has a supermassive black hole, whose mass is billions of times that of the Earth's Sun.
This photos has about 24 hours of combined exposure of LRGB filters. Esprit 120, QHY268M, SkyWatcher EQ6R mount.
For Macro Mondays this weeks theme "chain", my antique gold bracelet (once a watch chain) with beautiful chains draped over the glass ball. Another old bracelet and a gold chain added, adjusted the lighing and this is the result.
HMM everyone, thank you for viewing and/or liking.

Title is a Sam Cooke song
"A domino effect or chain reaction is the cumulative effect produced when one event sets off a chain of similar events.[This term is best known as a mechanical effect and is used as an analogy to a falling row of dominoes. It typically refers to a linked sequence of events where the time between successive events is relatively small.
The term domino effect is used both to imply that an event is inevitable or highly likely (as it has already started to happen), and conversely to imply that an event is impossible or highly unlikely (the one domino or bicycle left standing)."
Decided to make a daisy chain when I spotted these large daisies when down at Irvine Harbour looking for inspiration for Flickr Friday.
Happy Fence Friday! one of my favorite days here on flickr.
Our life should be getting back to normal here soon. its been a rough few weeks but we are strong and made it through. We are back to homeschooling our sweet one and so happy!!!
Have a great weekend xoxo
An edit on a previous photo - to put emphasis on the beautifully lit Chain Bridge
Area surrounding the bridge was de-saturated using an adjustment brush in lightroom
