Multipurpose work bench! Old hardware undergoing resustication and revitalization. The CeleryBox 366@450, Acheron, lives on with SP2 and tweaks... The Dual Celeron 366@550 BP6, Elysium, loses broken Debian and gains oh-so-functional XP Pro SP2.

Getting that X-Box done gave me so much room for ... clutter! :D

Overall pic of internals. System is currently running a Celeron D CPU with 1GB of ram, plenty for a storage server, but if it ever gets too loaded I can just as easily put a dual-core P4 in it's place. primary OS drive is a 160GB SATAII drive I had extra partitioned into a 60GB OS part and 100GB Data part.

A photo tribute to an old machine, 1999-2007 and still running strong, but no longer needed. It was also the noisiest thing in my new place, but served me well over the years.

* Intel Celeron 433

* 256 MB RAM

* Dual-boot WinXP/98SE

* ~75 GB disk space, 2 drives

* 4X CD-R / multi-format dual-layer DVD+/-R drives

* Numerous stickers

* Super-optimized boot time + drive transfer speed via ATA66/80-conductor UDMA IDE cables (new at the time.) XP used only ~64 MB of RAM after boot.

I basically wrote all my DHTML experiments and projects (DHTML Arkanoid as one notable example), did audio/video and photo editing on this machine up until 2005 when I moved to California, at which point it became a storage/DVD-writing machine and dev server (also ran http, smtp and ftp.)

Now I have 250 GB of external storage and a laptop that does dual-layer DVDs, so this old ghetto dev machine has officially been rendered obsolete. I moved all of the important data over to my new system, so I'm officially done with it. This photo serves as a mental note of its history.

All the letters are comprised individually of computer parts in the

same category. The first g is all RAM (a lot of different types,

including RDRAM), the A is all cd drives and 5.25" floppy drives

drives, tape drives, and zip 100 drives, the second g is all hard

drives, scsi and IDE, (largest one there is 10G and smallest is

either 346MB or 250MB), the first e is all processors (i486, Penrium 1

[w/ and w/out MMX], Slot and socket Pentium 3s [one from a laptop], a

P3 xeon, a P4 [celeron], Cyrix x686, AMD K6, another AMD, and a Sun

(Commodore 64, IBM Model M, Apple Extended, other laptop and desktop

keyboards), the last E is network switches, and the R is all PDAs

( from Palm Pilot 1000 to Dell Axim X50v). I had fun making htis and I

hope you enjoy it. It's pretty geeky…

Another blurry shot of the internet cafe we visited it was very dirty and looked like it was for a particular type of people. three PCs had crashed, these are them, one had a boot disk failure, the other had a BSOD and the last, Internet Explorer had crashed.

these PCs were 1GHz Celeron's with 128mb RAM running Windows 2000

Nice apparatus, the software that comes with it, is also second to none, although I must say that my WD's are pretty nice too.

I found one on one migration to be faster via e-SATA then USB-3.

Still the leader of the pack, the primus inter pares, so to speak.
