A view of my kitchen ceiling fan from directly underneath.

This handsome circular, Classical plaza, ringed by arcades, is actually a piece of transportation infrastructure - a roundabout linking 79th Street with southbound car traffic on the Henry Hudson Parkway, and bicycle traffic on the Hudson River Greenway. This is best understood from the satellite view. If there must be urban highways, and they must have off-ramps, this is some kind of model to consider.

Part of the huge West Side Improvement/Henry Hudson Parkway project, initiated in 1929, moribund in the early Depression years, and completed 1934-1937 under Robert Moses, Commissioner of Parks. The official opening brochure gives design credit to the engineering consultancy Madigan-Hyland, as well as consulting landscape architects Gilmore D. Clarke (Clarke & Rapuano) and C.J. Beakes, together with the Department of Parks staff members Emil H. Praeger (Chief Engineer) and Clinton F. Loyd (Chief, Architectural Design).

First pass on the fan blades. The 2nd coat should completely cover the blades. This paint is oil based so I'm giving them overnight to dry before the 2nd coat.

Anyone know where to get such a fan?

UPDATE: seems the fan is a "Modern Fan" according to these fan fans.

I realized I never put photos of my new awesome apartment on Flickr, so I decided I should take photos whenever things are clean. So here is the ceiling fan; more to come, slowly I'm sure.

OK, MagikMaster! Turn it on; I'm ready!

This is gonna be a fun ride!!

TheMagikMaster: "OK, just hold on, Benny!"

sometimes I wonder why he puts up with me. then, like a child, he comes to me and tells me to grab my camera. "look," he says. "have you gotten a picture of the sun shining through the window yet?"

yeah I'm a nerd.

We went to a party, and our hosts had this ceiling fan in their living room. I thought it had an interesting play of shadows, shades, and geometry.

16/28 Beige/Coffee Cream February, 365 Days in Colour.

I am doing an online photography course during February.

Viewing the photos submitted to the various technical topics for the course, it is very encouraging that the image quality in our group 365 Days in Colour is so good. Daily photo challenges really help :-)

This is my broken cieling fan. The only speed settings it has are Off and High. I really like blacklights and I was trying to get my cieling fan to have some kind of flourescent color on it so I sprayed some washable pink paint on the blades. I took a picture of it and I liked the colors. Everyone else thinks this picture is worthless. Haha.

More of a spotlight, highlighting the passing fan blades.

With my fan running, the pull chain on my fan rattles a bit. It needed some extra weight to keep it from rattling, so this is what I came up with. It solves two problems, as I didn't really know where to put my yellow Unit 00.

It's been so cold lately (by my weaksauce California-fied standards, anyway) that even VV finds the ceiling fan to be a bit much at night. For maybe 8-9 months of the year it's always on when he's in the room. He is obviously not from here.

I have some slightly more interesting photos queued up, so hang tight! :) I've just been rather busy as of late!
