View of non-asbestos 1-foot square ceiling tile in room of building with asbestos paper sub-layer between tile and attic space above. The ceiling tiles were each individually nailed in place (not adhered) on a suspended grid of wooden furring strips. Nails were each hidden inside perforation holes. Surface of center tile has been peeled away showing brown, cellulosic, non-asbestos fiber matrix; asbestos paper shows slight yellow aging.

La data della costruzione è quanto mai incerta, comunque le prime notizie si hanno a partire dal 1355; il portale della chiesa è dotato di decorazioni scultoree sormontate da un affresco quattrocentesco. Molto interessante è l'interno della chiesa in particolar modo il presbiterio, con le pareti e il soffitto completamente affrescate. Tra questi affreschi spicca quello sulla parete di fondo dedicato alla crocefissione datato 1493. Questo capolavoro pittorico è stato realizzato da Hans Clemer, un artista di origine fiamminga detto il "Maestro di Elva" che prestò la sua opera nel marchesato di Saluzzo.

The date of construction is quite uncertain, however the first news comes from 1355; The church's portal features sculptural decorations topped with a 15th-century fresco. Very interesting is the interior of the church, in particular the presbytery, with walls and ceiling completely frescoed. Among these frescoes stands the one on the bottom wall dedicated to the crucifixion dating from 1493. This pictorial masterpiece was made by Hans Clemer, a Flemish artist named the "Master of Elva" who lent his work in the marquis of Saluzzo.

Took this at Paolo's in Charlestown the other night. I was trying to get the texture of the tin ceiling to show better and ended up at one point with this, which I thought was kinda cool though not at all what it really looked like.
The ceiling of the Morgan library and museum in New York is ornately decorated with the various disciplines of literature, as it arches high over our heads.
New York was the first holiday Niqui and I ever took together, so in celebration of our 25th not-wedding anniversary this year, we decided to go back, the first time in nearly 20 years!)
The theme of week 50 is Ceilings. So I was thinking of going to a building where they have a nice ceiling. But when I looked up, I thought I did have 2 lamps which were nice. It turned out best when the light was switched on!

We stopped by Belvedere Palace to see Gustav Klimt's art exhibition yesterday. This magnificent place has been turned into an art gallery for many years. I was hoping to take some shots of the water fountains in its garden, but the fountains ran dry without any water. The back side of the palace had a Christmas market set up there. There were herds of tourists moving around. It took us almost two hours of waiting time to get into the palace since we didn't book our tickets in advance. Once we were in, it was still pretty crowded. The only chance of photography without any human in the frame was to point the camera to the ceiling. And so I did in one of the big rooms.
