Evangelical Church (in need of repair), Bistrita, Romania
Located in Bistriţa's Main Square, the Evangelical Church was built by Transylvanian Saxons centuries ago. Construction of the Gothic church with Renaissance elements (i.e. the pews) began in 1470 and was completed almost 100 years later by Petrus Italus de Lugano, who added renaissance elements to the structure. A 76.5 m high steeple (Saxons' Tower) overlooking the city was added later, making it the highest stone church tower in Romania. (surprising-romania.blogspot.com/2010/01/evangelical-churc...)
Here the arrangement of earth tone colored tesserae appear in an ornate American Indian design.

I really like the two dragons that are on notes sides of the base of the stone arch.
St Pancras Renaissance Hotel is George Gilbert Scott's Gothic Revival ‘magnus opus’, with its Hogwarts-style steeples and gargoyles.
The grandeur of the Grand Staircase is like walking into a scene from Harry Potter. The vaulted ceiling with a painted celestial scene reminds you of Firenze’s Divination classes.
In 1875 The Builder commented that “Railway termini and hotels are to the 19th century what monasteries and cathedrals were to the 13th century; they are the only truly representative buildings we possess”. These were astute words indeed as the combination of St Pancras station and the hotel are surely our nation’s strongest symbols of Victorian pride, true proclamations of the power of our steam age. The public mirrored this sentiment, exclaiming: “St George for England and St Pancras for Scotland” when the full majesty of the building was revealed (access to Scotland from the station had recently been secured).

The Crossings is central Christchurch's biggest retail precinct development yet. The $140 million complex is made up of shops and hospitality outlets, plus offices and a car parking building. It has been built in new and restored heritage buildings around a series of laneways and air bridges.

Upon leaving the galleries and gift shops, one will see this on the way to the Powhatan Indian Village.
Looking down past Lahn into the valley. The cloud above made the place feel like a cave- a misty ceiling of sorts.
I used this shot as part of my Assignment 5 submission for Digital Photographic Practice for my OCA course.
Day 55 - After I got off work, I walked into the lobby of the building and pointed my fisheye straight unto the ceiling for an interesting shot.

El altar de catedral metropolitana de la ciudad de Sucre,Bolivia, es un trabajo de primera calidad, hecho por un maestro de indudable origen europeo. El apellido Pastorelo sugiere que podría ser italiano de nacimiento.
El tipo de retablo es totalmente español, ya que en Italia no existe equivalente para este tipo de altar de varios cuerpos, y la madera dorada es también material típicamente español.
El estilo del dibujo arquitectónico pertenece al final del Renacimiento, precisamente cuando comienza a desembocar en características barrocas.
El manejo de los órdenes clásicos es esencialmente renancentista en el dibujo de las columnas, pilastras y el friso decorado con modillones. Los motivos geométricos planos en el nicho del segundo cuerpo y el tercio inferior de las columnas se encuentran en la orfebrería española del siglo XVII y en los edificios andaluces del mismo período como por ejemplo la biblioteca de Jerez de la Frontera (1575) y los arcos contiguos al coro seiscentista de la gran mezquita de Córdoba.

The cathedral was severely damaged by an earthquake in 1908, and rebuilt in a modern eclectic style with Romanesque and Gothic elements. The initial design was by the engineer P. Carmelo Umberto Angiolini and then modified by the engineer Mariano Francesconi. The new church was consecrated in 1928. Последняя реконструкция, инициатором которой стал епископ Ринальдо Камило Руссо, началась в 1917 году, т.к. после землетрясения 1908 года собор сильно пострадал. The Sheldonian Theatre, Oxford. Painted by King Charles II's court painter, Robert Streater. A four year restoration project was completed in 2008. The allegorical story depicted in the paintings shows Truth descending upon the Arts and Sciences and expelling ignorance from the university. Sitz des Hessischen Landtags ist seit 1946 das ehemalige Stadtschloss der nassauischen Herzöge in Wiesbaden.
Der alte Plenarsaal wurde 2004 abgerissen und durch einen Neubau ersetzt, der am 4. April 2008 eingeweiht wurde.(Wikipedia.de)
