Ferns Castle was built in the 13th century, possibly by William, Earl Marshall. Originally, the castle formed a square, with large corner towers. Only half of the castle now remains. The most complete tower contains a fine circular chapel, with carved ornament. The tower also has several original fireplaces and a vaulted basement. Archaeological excavations revealed a rock- cut ditch outside the castle walls.

Light pattern on the ceiling produced by the Christmas lights on my window sill shining through the shades.

Rustic and beautiful, make sure to look up! Stunning hand painted ceilings are a sight to behold.

While I was lying on the floor with the ceiling fan on thinking what my Northern Hemisphere Flickr friends would be doing to keep warm today, I had a vision. A blurry one, but still a vision.

"William Booth College at Champion Park, Denmark Hill in the London Borough of Southwark, is the headquarters of The Salvation Army leadership and officer training which delivers education and training programmes for the United Kingdom. Designed by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott, the college is a memorial to William Booth; it is Grade ll listed.

"The college was proposed by William Booth's son Bramwell just after his father William's death, as a tribute to him. On 8 July 1929, the college was officially opened by HRH Prince George."

Ceiling of the Anthony Theatre at 220 W. Main in Anthony, Kansas. The theatre opened on November 23, 1936 with "Love on the Run" starring Joan Crawford, Clark Gable, and Franchot Tone being the opening movie. Wichita architect S.S. Voight designed the art deco building. Along with Voight several Wichita businesses were involved in the building of the Anthony Theatre. It is currently being restored.

The patterned ceiling of the Sainte- Chapelle, Paris France.

Taken in Dry Cave, WV (closed to non-surveyors). We surveyed 610 feet on the day.

These were formerly actual skylights bringing in natural daylight, but they were covered up over the years and are now illuminated by artifical light.

Finished ceilings on 2nd, and 3rd level. 1st and 4th level to go

I don't have a Farrow & Ball paint chart to hand, but I'm sure these colours must be somewhere in the sticking plaster/ointment/dead salmon spectrum.

The gothic temple was built before 1761. For economy it is constructed from wood, rendered to suggest stone. Inside is a pretty plaster vault.

Painshill is a landscape garden, created in picturesque style by the Honourable Charles Hamilton between 1738 and 1773 (when he ran out of money and had to sell the estate). The gardens survived into the twentieth century but fell into decay after World War Two. They are now managed by a charity, the Painshill Park Trust, which aims to restore them to the original design.

Rusted Steel Ceiling in the Bathroom.

Athol House is on Houghton Drive in Jozi. I saw a photograph of this abandoned house earlier the week on Urbex and hunted it down. It quite easy to find as it is close to the M1 highway taking the 11th Avenue off-ramp. The house has been completely gutted with only the shell remaining amongst all the stately homes in this up-market suburb. All the floorboards, doors, and fitting have been removed.

It looks as if other surrounding properties were demolished some time ago, maybe to build a cluster development or something similar. Seems as if the developer has gone bust and only the ruin of Athol House now remains
