We originally got this small, cylindrical object for the cats earlier in the year. When we bought it, it smelled of matatabi (a Japanese type of catnip). Over time, the smell wore out. Last night, Naomi sprayed it with more matatabi and Yuba went crazy (or got severely drunk) and spent a good deal of his evening attacking the cat toy. Picture by Naomi.

I found this when I was cleaning up my photo files... Ollie made a cozy nest out of the comforter, bringing along a catnip sack, like a kid with a stuffed toy ;-)
Single pawedly this beautiful cat. has decimated my Nepeta. Known also as catnip it is like cannabis for cats - they adore it and become very silly after smelling it, rolling in it and eating it.
My daughter walked through some catnip in a friend's garden...Oliver is ecstatic that she paid him a visit. But removing cat drool from flipflops...

This weekend, relaxation took the form of making these adorable, catnip-filled felt toys. When you use a template to trace the cutouts (you can print the templates I made for this project!), it's actually very easy to put them together.
