but it smells better to cats...

I had planned to embed this fuzzy photo in the comments of another one, but I can't do that unless it's "public"; I thought I had done this in the past. At any rate, this shows how Otis climbed from the floor to the seat of the "tall chair" after feasting on fresh catnip. It really went to his head this time, because he swiped at a few invisible things before he settled down on the chair.

(see comments for the orderly way he approaches the chair, normally)

for the discerning feline!

My new Etsy account is just opened. Still tweaking, but these are refillable, "fashionable" catnip pillows, each one made by me (when I'm not selling real estate or taking photos).

And a couple of other kitten moments.

I'm going to try trapping tonight again. I didn't catch the cat I was after last night though he/she was there. It went into my trap again, but only about 2/3 of the way in. I will get it, sooner or later. I didn't lay a trail of bait, so I will try that tonight. Sometimes they need a taste of the food to entice them that last bit of the way into the trap....

I always buy catnip pillows for my niece's cats when they visit me and especially Leo loves them. They entertain him for quite a long time and not only for a few minutes. He keeps returning to them over several days.

Seems a win! Happy Caturday 2 December 2023 “Toys”

My cat *June* is the youngest of the three felines we share our home with. She will be turning *4* soon. She loves to play and goes crazy for catnip~you can see the effects in this photo!!

Tikki wishes to offer her endorsement. The panic in her eyes as she looks at me is because I turned the (open) pouch over to show the brand name, and she hasn't figured out how to open it yet at that angle. She doesn't love every treat, but she really does like these! (Happy Caturday theme 10 June 2023, "Brands") (got into Explore around 330!)

Gray Catbird ~ (Dumetella carolinensis)

These beautyberries are like catnip to the Grey Catbird. A skulky bird that prefers to stay in the knots of branches and scrub. They will pop out for a delicious berry though.

Thanks for visiting!

too much of a good thing makes Mr Spock sleepy

I ordered the pattern from Etsy, reduced it some, and made this catnip fish for our cat family. (hand-stitched, mind you) Instead of filling it completely with dried catnip, I made a cylindrical pouch and inserted it along with the stuffing.

As you'll see in the following photographs, there just hasn't been much enthusiasm for the fish toy. I wonder if Jimmy made a peace pact with the fish.

Always amused at the effect of catnip on Herbie :-)

Clark rubbing himself against the catnip plant. Thanks Mom for the title :D!

I harvested fresh catnip from the education garden at Wright-Locke Farm, and gave some to Buddy, the resident cat. He munched on it and then pawed at the ground, as most cats do.

new top & shorts by Emery; new apple flats by BCC (The Arcade); new panda sushi cup, spoon + sushi set by Omen (The Arcade); new hair by Truth; new skin by Glam Affair (The Arcade); new panda purse, hanging kitty cloud necklace & pose (Funny Puppet Fair); $1L macarons necklace; new cat beret by BCC, new links watch & water gun (Sounds Gravis Beach gatcha festival)

Buddy is hoping I'll give him some more catnip. There's a large plant in the farm's education garden, and I harvested a pocketful for him. He enjoys eating it and rolling around.

Romeo's feeling the kick from the fresh 'nip causing induced cuteness overload.

A Mason bee swings in to land on catnip.

I thought the cats would enjoy some catnip bubbles spewed from a bubble machine but I was sadly mistaken. They were confused by the bubbles and Jet ran away when they landed him. Dark inside with a really high ISO so noise is quite bad but it was fun to watch, at least for me.

It'S a GOOD life! :)

Discovered Milo nibbling on my catnip and quickly took a few snapshots through the window. Milo likes to come to our garden, not only because of the pots with catnip but also (unfortunately) because of the bird feeders.

Here's a male, broad-teil hummingbird, flashing his ruby gorget, as he enjoys some catnip at Cherry Creek State Park, Colorado. There's a currant bush behind him, where I've been shooting catbirds, robins, house finch and goldfinch, as they feast on the ripe berries.

I spend hours sitting here, always listening for the telltale sound of a male broad-tail flying by. Some days< i'll hear that sound and not even see the hummer. Other times, I see it flash by and maybe dive bomb me once or twice as it goes about its business. On my lucky days, like this morning, it'll stop and feed on thistle or catnip, or whatever is in bloom. Today, he did it a couple of times. He was only there a few seconds, but I've gotten good at locking him into focus quickly.

I have a button on my camera that I can push to raise the frames per second to 120-fps. I seldom use it, but when a hummingbird comes by, I push the button, so that I get to choose the best pose from many possible.
