Of all the times I've been out to Gros Cap to shoot, for some reason I've never stopped at the marina. I'm glad I decided to today, because it was a calm evening with neat rain clouds, which made for some great shots. As a bonus, the rain even held off until I was packing up all my gear.

Spent a couple of days at one of my favourite shorebird spots in Victoria - the beautiful beaches of Killarney. As always, there were plenty of Red-capped Plovers hiding amongst the seaweed.
Australian Fur Seal (Arctocephalus pusillus doriferus) blending in with the rocks at Cap Sevinge, South Australia.

Nocturna en Cap Roig. Hace ya unos meses tuve la oportunidad de regresar a la Costa Brava, donde con poquitos años de edad me inflaba a patatas fritas y tomate, mi dieta por entonces, pese a los esfuerzos de mis padres, y recordaba aquella zona de una forma idÃlica, con calas solitarias y paradisiacas, donde los pinos miraban de cerca al mar, y el agua era tan transparente que parecÃa que ni habÃa, y aunque el cambio ha sido muy grande en estos 30 años, en especial por la cantidad de hoteles y chalets pegados al mar, la esencia sigue siendo la misma.
Para preparar el taller de nightcolours.es, siempre visitamos las localizaciones con anterioridad para ver los mejores encuadres, los posibles peligros, la oferta hotelera…etc, y este también fue el caso, con la ayuda de nuestro amigo Gerard, estuvimos de cala en cala, buscando los mejores lugares, pero a la vez disfrutando de lo hermoso de la zona. Me quedo sin duda con esta cala, urbanizada si, pero que desprende encanto por los poros o mejor dicho por los granos de su fina y tostada arena, Cap Roig. Esos árboles creciendo en la roca aislada en una playa, aguantando vientos, salitre y seguro que también alguna que otro vándalo, con el paso del tiempo se han convertido en un icono.
Para esta fotografÃa me recorrà abajo y arriba la zona, tenÃamos una luna muy potente y dificultaba por un lado la toma, pero por otro su luz se comÃa la contaminación lumÃnica de los alrededores, que no es poca. Asà que me puse a componer y no me resultaba nada sencillo con la luna en esa posición, un costado, por la izquierda, en vertical…al final opté por usar la linea de costa como hilo conductor hacia la isla, y la luna y su reflejo en el agua (rielo), la otra lÃnea que cerrara una especie de cÃrculo de visión. En el revelado abusé de un filtro verde y de viñeteado para potenciar ese recorrido visual y una atmósfera un tanto paradisiaca. Enfoqué por separación de frecuencias y le apliqué un efecto orton por zonas mediante mascaras de luminosidad, como hacen en estos años fotógrafos como Adamus, Dyar, Noriega…etc para darle un cierto aire onÃrico.
En una semana de nuevo estaremos allÃ, taller lleno de alumnos y de ilusiones.

A Red-capped Plover plucks a sandworm from the wet sand along the shoreline. These birds use their sensitive feet & sharp eyesight to detect & catch sandworms as they move through the sand. I watched this female slowly tapping the sand with one foot before she plunged her bill into the sand & came up with this sandworm.
I don't know anything about baseball so .....We have a line of baseball caps in the hall. We grab one when we are going outside and it's raining. Is it a macro? Not sure but I like it.
