Russula nobilis is widespread in North America and grows primarily with beech trees. It is commonly known as the Beech Sickener, as it is toxic.

The sickener is known for its cherry-red cap that grows up to 3.3 inches at maturity. The cap shape starts out convex in young specimens and then flattens out in mature ones. The red mushroom’s gills are white, becoming yellowish as the mushroom matures, and are attached to a sturdy, white, cylindrical stem.

When the chickadee is your animal totem, it is symbolic of a cheerful nature, social behavior, courage, positivity, and flexibility. If you have a chickadee as your animal totem, then it means that you are surrounded by people who will love you. :-)

Might be a very common bird it almost all North American areas south of me, but this little black-capped chickadee (Poecile atricapillus) is a real rarity around my feeders. I haven't seen one in my backyard for more than a decade.

Much more common in my area is the more muted brownish boreal chickadee (Poecile hudsonicus).

Whist trying to catch up with myself rather than not post anything thought I would continue with a few more images from Lyme

Taken from the town of Lyme Regis a view over to the Jurassic coastline looking towards the golden cap which is the highest point on the South coast.

Thanks for viewing and any comments.

This black-capped Chickadee spent a lot of time making sure his black cap was nice and clean.

Captain's cap.

According to legend the last Captain of HMAS Gladstone left his cap behind as a reminder of his service.

At the time HMAS Gladstone was gifted navy personnel removed all classified equipment and left the ship as it was at decommissioning.

Everything is still intact as if the crew were about to return to the ship and make ready to sail.

Today the former HMAS Gladstone aka Sad Rock is in wet dock at Gladstone and is operated as a tourist attraction by the Gladstone Maritime Museum.

Photos from a birding trip to the Atlantic Forest of Southeast Brazil. Only 10% of this forest is left, yet it contains many endemic, near endemic, and bird species in general. Separate and distinct from the Amazon.

The weather was wonderful today! I had gone out for a little drive which was very unproductive first thing in the morning. I then decided that I needed a walk in Fish Creek Park. I was so happy to see the male GHO perched in a familiar place!

Thanks everyone for your views comments and fave's! They are greatly appreciated :)
