One of the first Common Toad (Bufo bufo) seen this year, and photographed late in the evening. It was a wonderful symphony and was hoping to return to make some more photographs, but think I missed the opportunity... soon its butterfly time!
I liked the way how this mother seagull watched me. It looked more self confident than afraid. Maybe I had gone any closed it would have pecked me coming too close to its nest.
Original background was so awful that I replaced it with a scenery from the same pond.
It's autumn in the rural town of Guildhall, located in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. As of the last census, this small town has a population of 261, with total area of 33 square miles, and density of 8 people per square mile. The town green, partially depicted in the photo, includes a church, the town clerk's office, a meetinghouse, a courthouse, the county sheriff's department, and a library.
It's a cold spring day at the Tinker Farm, located in the rural town of Fletcher, Vermont, population 1277 as of the last census. The mountain in the background is Mt. Mansfield, Vermont's highest mountain, and part of the Green Mountains range.

Been a dream for a few years to photograph Western Capercaillie (Tetrao urogallus) for some years. On the ground and with the bird in between the sun and me. Finally. This fellow was seriously trying to impress me. Happy days

February 2021, Photo Tour to Kuusamo, Finland - image 19:
Spent a lot of time during this year's trip at the Kitka river (Kitkajoki) to photograph White-throated Dippers (Cinclus cinclus) . The circumstances were perfect; many Dippers, fresh snow, and thick ice. The only downside were the cold temperatures, up to -29 degrees Celcius, causing a haze above the water. The result was a fair amount of hazy pictures, but thank God also enough photos without that annoying haze. This is one of them, and a few more will follow.
Focused mainly on shots with a longer exposure and used only a 70-200mm lens for that, just to get enough of that silky water in each shot.
This remains one of my favorite places to photograph birds in their natural environment. What a wonderful place this is.

This Eurasian Pygmy Owl (Glaucidium passerinum) was hunting. Couple of slow strikes, and then suddenly a few fast ones. Looks like this owl, the smallest in Europe, was after a small bird this time. However, after 30 minutes, still no success and various little birds started to bully the tired owl even more, than they did before. An old Silver Birch (Betula pendula) with few holes provided the necessary shelter. Happy Days.
The center of the rural town of East Orange, Vermont consists mostly of this town meeting house and a church. There are no restaurants, fast food places, stores, or gas stations. While in the town in October 2017 for autumn foliage photos, I stopped at this building to get some information from two residents who were moving boxes from the building into a vehicle. They invited me inside to see what was, at that time, a cute little one room schoolhouse. Due to school consolidation, its new function would be what is now this community center.

Still life guacamole. Using the light from a north facing window on a cloudy day to light this I set a avocado, Habanero chili, tomato and a Jalapeno on a wood plate to create this very tasty food still life.

Riisitunturi National Park during sunset. The park's humid climatic conditions contribute to its natural beauty. In winter the spruce trees that cover many of the park's hillsides are clad with a thick coating of condensed frost, creating a photogenic white forest.

The last images from the tour to Kuusamo. There I spent a lot of time at the Kitka river (Kitkajoki) to photograph White-throated Dippers (Cinclus cinclus) . Focused mainly on shots with a longer exposure and used only a 70-200mm lens for that, just to get enough of that silky water in each shot. Experimented a lot, high key, low key, composition, and more.... it’s so much fun that you forget the cold temperatures rather fast.
