The CT-155 Hawk was selected for the NATO Flying Training in Canada (NFTC) program because of its similarities to frontline fighter aircraft. Student pilots graduate from the CT-156 Harvard II to this highly advanced jet trainer. Its Rolls-Royce turbofan engine generates more than 6000lbs of thrust and powers the jet to supersonic speeds.

The 2017 CF-18 Demonstration Jet celebrating Canada’s 150th anniversary of Confederation - flown by Pilot Captain Matthew Kutryk - 3 Wing Bagotville, Québec
The specially-painted CF-18 Hornet features the official logo for “Canada 150” placed throughout the design. The logo is composed of a series of diamonds, or “celebratory gems”, arranged in the shape of the iconic maple leaf. The four diamonds at the base represent the four original provinces that formed Confederation in 1867: Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. Additional diamonds extend out from the base to create nine more points. Together, they symbolize Canada’s 13 provinces and territories. On the left wing, the timespan of Confederation is shown with the year of Confederation, 1867, and the 150th anniversary year – 2017. The right wing bears the official name of the celebration – “Canada 150”. All aspects of the design come together to create a truly unique and fitting tribute to this important year in Canada's history.

A view of Canada's National War Memorial located in Confederation Square and near Parliament Hill. Seen behind the memorial is the Fairmont Château Laurier, a grand railroad hotel built in the early twentieth century.
The granite arch with bronze sculptures was designed by sculpture Vernon March (1891-1930), and first dedicated by King George VI in 1939. Originally built to honor the Canadians who died in World War I, the memorial was rededicated in 1982 to include those killed in World War II and the Korean War. In 2014, the memorial once again was rededicated to include the War in Afghanistan, the Second Boer War, as well as all Canadians killed in conflicts past and future.
Seen in the bottom right of this photograph is the Canadian Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. At the foot of the tomb are two members of the Ceremonial Guard, which are drawn from all branches of the Canadian Forces.

The CC-144 flew with 412(Transport) Squadron at Canadian Forces Base, Ottawa (Uplands) starting in April 1983 transporting VIPs. In 2000, the aircraft was returned to 412 Squadron at Ottawa International Airport, where it again served as a VIP transport.
In May 2012, Challenger 601 was heavily damaged by a bird strike while in Florida at MacDill Air Force Base. It underwent a temporary repair before being flown back to Ottawa, where much of the starboard side nose was replaced.
CC144601 served as a VIP transport until 2014, when the Challenger fleet was reduced from six to four aircraft.
It was delivered to the National Air Force Museum of Canada in 2015.

at Abbotsford International Airport (YXX)
Typical Canadian weather, a cold, misty, rainy day, provided the backdrop for a historical meeting of two of the World's premiere military jet demonstration teams. The Canadian Forces Snowbirds and patrouille de France line up for a joint team portrait on the apron at Gatineau Executive Airport north of Ottawa after the AERO150 airshow. On the left is the Canadair Tutor in the symbolic Snowbirds livery, and right the Dassault/Dornier Alpha Jet in the patrouille de France colours, with the promotional vertical stabilizer. The airshow highlighted Canada's 150th birthday, and 100 years of the Battle of Vimy Ridge during the great War.
