A fallen maple leaf on a path in the Veterans' Section of the National Military Cemetery of the Canadian Forces (Beechwood Cemetery) in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. My message here is that despite the recent murders of Corporal Nathan Cirillo and of Warrant Officer Patrice Vincent; that our beloved country, Canada, a very multi-cultural, complex, and diverse society (represented by the stones surrounding and linking with the centre stone) remains as strong as a rock and united against terrorism come Hell or high water. We are a very proud and strong nation, exemplified by our citizenry, and nothing, and nobody, will ever erode such a fact.
One aircraft is not like the others in the formation as the Canadian Forces Snowbirds along with the Royal Canadian Air Force CF-18 Demo jet fly over Nathan Phillips Square during the RCAF Change of Colours ceremony on September 1st, 2017. Taken from Snowbird number 7.
Every year I place a version of this photo I took six years ago on to my Flickr photo-stream. The photo shows WWII Royal Navy veteran Russ Arthur, now 91, passing his poppy to his great grandson, Joseph, now 10 and three quarters !

The next series of photos were taken at the National War Memorial in Ottawa, Ontario. (Comments disabled until the last image.)
The National War Memorial, also known as "The Response," is a cenotaph symbolizing the sacrifice of all Canadian Armed Forces personnel who have served Canada in time of war in the cause of peace and freedom — past, present and future. The memorial is the site of the national Remembrance Day Ceremony on November 11.
The Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) have posted sentries at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier since 2007. On Oct. 22, 2014, Corporal Nathan Cirillo was tragically killed while on sentry duty. Sentry duty at the Tomb of the Unknown Solider now holds an even deeper meaning for both the CAF and the Canadian public.

Despite that lovely pool of sunshine - that year, the show was cancelled due to the already waterlogged fields used for car parking and the torrential rain that blighted the preceding days and the following hours and the weekend when the show was due to take place!
