The freezing cold during the last couple of weeks has all lakes and ponds frozen and often covered with snow as well. The ocean is the only thing offering reflections now.
After driving around in the moonlight night shooting some Aurora, I last visited Straumur YET again. It never fails to deliver, there is always a different angle or light each time.
The Aurora surprisingly became active last week. Forecast said little activity but as unpredictable as Aurora is, it suddenly appeared. This time it lasted 2-3 hours with varying intensity.
My canon EOS 30D camera settings:
Aperture: f4.5
Shutter speed: 10 sec
ISO: 400
Lens: Canon EF-S 10-22mm @ 15mm

A different composition on these fishing nets on lake Biwa Japan during the Rohan Reilly workshop.
We were blessed with lovely light that evening and the lake had a soft glow about it.

I've just googled something about the boat, "TrueLove" in the foreground. It's a boat that is available for charter out of Ibiza (Balearic Islands, Spain). This 23.55m vessel was built in Germany in 1944, and was formerly owned (and renovated) by Fat Boy Slim.
How does this make you feel? Can you describe it in a single word or perhaps a few words? For me it is calming. I would like to hear your thoughts.

[I know this is the third image in a row with my new butterfly, but I adore it. And I needed to create this. I needed a photo to escape into that would help me feel calm and at ease, and this photo has done that for me. It helps that it's all of my favorite colors in one image: indigo, blue, and green. Reminds me a bit of the beautiful tree painted by Annie in What Dreams May Come.]
This Bald eagle was calmly watching Lake Taneycomo. It looked drier than a Red-tailed hawk we saw later. The morning had several bands of heady rain keeping December warmer than usual.
