Volkswagen introduced the fourth generation of the Caddy in 2021. Like the Golf VIII and a number of other new cars from the group it's based on the MQB Evo platform. Ford now also has a version of this model as Tourneo Connect or Transit Connect as a van.
The second generation of the Volkswagen Caddy was introduced in 1995. It was a badge engineered version of the Seat Inca, based on the second generation Seat Ibiza. In 2003 it was replaced by a larger version, based on the Volkswagen Touran.
