a splash of water and sunlight against the shovel came out great for cwd652: Splash!

A Chinese Water deer (_Hydropotes inermis_) doe on the Whipsnade Estate.

one of my all time favorite poems:

The rose

Some say love, it is a river, that drowns the tender reed

Some say love, it is a razor, that leaves your soul to bleed

Some say love, it is a hunger, an endless aching need

I say love, it is a flower, and you, its only seed

Its the heart afraid of breaking, that never learns to dance

Its the dream afraid of waking, that never takes the chance

Its the one who wont be taken, the one who cant seem to give

And the soul afraid of dying, that never learns to live

When the night has been too lonely and the road has been too long

And you think that love is only for the lucky and the strong

Just remember that in the winter, far beneath the bitter snow

Lies the seed, that with the suns love in the spring becomes the rose.

Vegetable, squid, shrimp, mussel, scallop, Chinese mushroom, spicy broth.

For 'Take a class with Dave & Dave': Week 100 - Assignment 2. Italy.

On my most recent trip to Italy a few years back, this was my big splurge purchase. Obviously Italy can mean so many things-- art, food, wine, music... I've just always loved this tie.

for "cwd" candlelight assignment. to be honest, i'm not quite sure why i like this photo. for some reason i do. maybe its poo. i sure hope not. i'm sure the class w/daves will tell me if it is.

cwd1251 ~ Texture Overlay Redux - This one can be really interesting when done well. We did it back in Week 89. Discussion of the original assignment can be found here.

I think this is the 3rd time ever I've done anything with textures. So it was a real challenge for me. Especially shooting my own texture too..... I personally really like how this turned out. Perhaps one or two others will too ;-)

Elizabeth, wearing my hat, and Mac; cleaning up after dinner.

The Earth is finite. Recognize that. Take the Green Exit off this philosophy of infinite economic growth and infinite growth in consumption. Take that first step towards sustainability.

for cwd 16 weeks behind, I've been on the lookout for something else, but this sort of popped out at me from the beginning. This yellow seal showed up in our yard on a windy day, exactly where it sits in this picture. I put it back in the yard it flew out of, but not before I got to photograph it.

CWD 86 - R Burrows - Bedford WH 2 ton cattle truck. Chiltern Hills Rally, Aston Clinton on 15th May 2011 - (c) Peter Jarman

I've done a few macro shots today with my Fox Close-up lenses but this is the one I prefer. It just seems much more interesting than the cork-screw ones, and I hope that the light shining through from behind is making it quite dramatic

Yeah, I know... I am a terrible father for letting my kid cry for the sake of a picture. I knew he was going to wake up crying and I was ready for it.

TACWD&D~WIDESCREEN

One of the most amazing skies I have ever seen.....I just loved those colors blended..

Assignment #2. Sidelight. The kodak manuals tell us to take a picture with the sun behind you striking the subject in the face. But we know the most interesting pictures are those where the light is coming from the side. Illuminate your subject primarily from one side. Here is my second attempt to do this assignment right... And I send it in now hoping it´s ok

cwd2462 ~ Outside a Window.

I've used my +10 close-up filter to take this. It's my tea from last night, a rather delicious Chicken Saag Paneer from the local Curry house.

It was delicous.

This is taken as a possibility for the "Grit" assignment for TACWD&D - using slime as a point of reference

If the red looks splotchy, that's because it is! This is hand-painted and there are many places where the red paint has not caught on to the clay lamp. Kinda more fun on black

Assignment 3. The Cutout. I just went back through our history and see we haven't done one of these since the first assignment in week 5. No matter how I try to look away, I just love these images! If you need instructions I'm pretty sure there's a topic explaining how to do it. These are images where just one color is left in a b&W image. Tag

Taken for Class with Daves: The Audit Group.

Week 48, Assignment 1. Smells. We’ve created wonderful images where we tried to create something tactile with our macro photography, our pictures of grit. This week let’s invoke another sense: smell. Create an image so vivid it channels the smell of the subject. Tag with cwd481.

Not a phenomenal photo, but this is the second bagel I've ruined in as many days trying to work out the timing of the broiler in our new apartment. I loath trying to squish bagels into our teensy circa 1969 toaster by slicing off some of the good stuff. The image might bring to mind a certain "our heritage" commercial for any other Canadians in the crowd...
