cwd1162: Pattern ~ From the suggestion thread (thanks de faria). Open to interpretation. This one scares me a little as I fear boring snapshots of old quilts. :-) As always, the goal is to create something interesting!
Because Pattern was my suggestion, I really feel like I should come up with something outstanding this week. Something at least good enough to reach the vote. This isn't it. I really have been a bad bad girl.
Some critique on offshoots of this would be appreciated too, if anyone's got time. Cheers.

Lauren tried to build a snowman by herself, but it kept falling over... but with the help of her sisters (and me!), we got it pretty steady... :) Got to enjoy the snow somehow!
For class with dave assignment 7.3: teamwork
The fishing shack at Lake Murray, San Diego - 5 AM. No fishermen, just a photographer (me) and the guard.
If you were to list all the desirables for a recreational suburban lake, then Lake Murray delivers in spades. Located smack dab in the middle of San Diego's San Carlos neighborhood, Lake Murray is extremely popular for picnics, joggers, bicyclists and rollerbladers. Oh yeah, and the fishing is killer for big bass. Trout is planted and is the main fish here. Motorboats, rowboats and paddle boats rented; canoes and float tubes allowed. Fish: Trout, bass, catfish, bluegill.
Assignment photo for Take a Class with Dave & Dave. "Light in the Frame"
This type of splash made me think of using another object other than the marble I was using to make the splash. ...perhaps a coin, but I never got around to attempting that. After I tired of the marbles, I went on to using the vacuum of a straw to let a drop out at a time.
Part of my table top 'set' that I created with a black background, big glass bowl filled with water, and indirect natural light from sliding glass door.
I've had so much fun playing with water drops for this weeks cwd assignment. I've had a hard time deciding which one to use. Here are all the one's I liked enough to upload.
For the CWD White assignment.

It snowed yesterday (Wednesday)! Yay!
There was a lot more than the last shots I posted from the snow in October, but sadly I overslept in the morning (like, I woke up the time I usually LEAVE!), and I did not get to take any shots. This was in the early afternoon, as I only worked 1/2 day, but a lot of it had melted from the trees and such.
A group of members from USACE and ABA discuss contracts during a break at their joint conference held June 10 in Kabul. The conference gave the ABA an opportunity to lay out their way ahead as Afghanistan enters its transition period to their members and receive feedback.
she loves to get dirty, and will willingly plop down in the sandbox to make a mud pie or just to get her hands dirty.

These flowers are in my mother-in-law's flower bed. She knows how to grow flowers. Hope this image cover the assignment for "bokeh"
cwd 711: Bokeh - Bokeh (from the Japanese boke ボケ, "blur") is a photographic term referring to the appearance of out-of-focus areas in an image produced by a camera lens. Different lens bokeh produces different aesthetic qualities in out-of-focus backgrounds, which are often used to reduce distractions and emphasize the primary subject.
Of course, our goal will to take wonderfully beautiful photos that feature bokeh!
I managed to get this by attaching my gorillapod to a wet railing on Canada Place. It was drizzling but those lights on the far shore were just dazzling. I cropped this wide so I decided to use to for an assignment:
cwd493: Widescreen - Create an image fit for the theater (or your new HDTV). All images must be WIDE. At a minimum, they must have a 1.78:1 aspect ratio (that's HDTV-style), but you can go as wide as 2.35:1 (a common movie format)
Assignment 3. Hometown Postcard. We play with design and text again as we create a postcard for our hometowns. Can you do better than the folks who have cards on those wire stands at the souvenir shops? Here’s your chance to show us your pride in your home town!
Rather than doing the usual Robin Hood crap I'd figured I'd rather focus on one of the excellent Universities here in Nottingham.
This is the Trent Building of Nottingham University in the Highfield Park campus near where I live
This is taken for Take a Class with Dave and Dave:
Assignment 1. Frozen Time. We’ve played with motion blur, but there is another very powerful way to convey energy, freeze motion in a way that can’t possibly just exist. High shutter speed in plenty of light will give a nice sharp image no matter how fast your subject may be moving. Images will be judged on sharpness. Tag with cwd131.
It was really sunny and so I managed to get my max shutter speed in use (1/4000) but this also provided it's own issues. The helicopter was under-exposed due to the sun's position (bloody pilot flew the wrong way!) and obviously a fill-in flash wasn't going to work ;¬)
So, I went for the silhouette shot. Shame the Flickr uploader stripped off the EXIF data
