The Colon Cemetery, or in Spanish Cementerio de Cristóbal Colón, was founded in 1876 in the Vedado neighbourhood of Havana, Cuba on top of Espada Cemetery. Named for Christopher Columbus, the 140 acre cemetery is noted for its many elaborately sculpted memorials. It is estimated that today the cemetery has more than 500 major mausoleums, chapels, and family vaults.

This Cuban Solitaire (Myadestes elisabeth) was spotted near the Cuevas de los Portales in southwest Cuba. (These 'cuevas' or caves are large limestone caverns where Che Guevera hid with a few dozen army officers during the Cuban missile crisis of 1962, while expecting an American invasion. )
