These early-1950s Chevrolets are used day in day out in Cuba. There are not many original parts in them, and quite often the motors are diesel engines from Russian tractors! The Cuban men are extremely resourceful and talented in maintaining these 60+ year old cars from a very limited supply of parts or materials.
Thanks for looking in, and your ongoing support:)
I was fortunate enough to see, and be able to photograph the Cuban Tody once again. The Tody is a Cuban endemic. Invariably, people everywhere say this bird is 'cute'. And my goodness, it is, in every way possible! I still recall, about ten years ago, the first time I saw a Tody. I was in a wooded area (in southern Cuba) mostly photographing warblers. Then, this tiny (and cute!) bird flew into view. And unlike many birds, it stayed around, flying from branch to branch. The Tody tends to be a 'friendly' bird, one I always enjoy seeing.
Thanks for looking, etc.

This Cuban Tody was using an intriguing perch. This species excavates nesting burrows in earth and wood, and even in sand at the entrance of crab holes on Cayo Coco — where we saw this individual.

(First of three) These Cuban Parrots or Rose-throated Parrots, Amazona leucocephala, were engaging in either courtship or aggresive behavior. Our Cuban ornithologist guide had mentioned that these birds were being seen in the evening on the grounds of the Hotel Horizontes where we were staying at Playa Larga in the Bay of Pigs area. I was able to watch them come in to feed on two evenings.
Also called Cuban Parrots or Cuban Amazons, they are West Indian endemics that have been considered near threatened but their numbers are increasing as the result of conservation measures.
