Palace Castle

A new day begins on the Snowdon Horseshoe, I set off around 02:30am and headed for the summit in total darkness, not long before I had to use my gps and map to help get me out of trouble and get back on the right track, as my head torch was completely defused with the low dense cloud which rendered it pretty much useless, I reached the famous standing stone (waypoint) in 2 hours, and after breaking through the cloud I had complete solitude and clear summits with cloud below them, looking down onto Crib Goch from Garnedd Ugain.

One from the archives. This was from a family vacation. When the family gets together the boys love to play cards. While I may have lost more times than I care to count with Crib, Halbadorn and I ran the table at Yuker!!!

A little peek into the nursery...

The interior of the Corn Crib (c. 1900) at Bradford Woods in Morgan County, IN.

A nativity scene (also known as a manger scene, crib, crèche, or in Italian presepio or presepe) is the special exhibition, particularly during the Christmas season, of art objects representing the birth of Jesus. While the term "nativity scene" may be used of any representation of the very common subject of the Nativity of Jesus in art, it has a more specialized sense referring to seasonal displays, either using model figures in a setting or enactments called "living nativity scenes" (tableau vivant) in which real humans and animals participate. Nativity scenes exhibit figures representing the infant Jesus, his mother Mary (to the left of Jesus), and her husband Joseph (standing by the wall to the right Jesus). Other characters from the nativity story such as shepherds and sheep (only one shepherd here with a lamb on the far right), and angels (again only one angel here on the far left wall) may be displayed near the manger in a barn (or cave) intended to accommodate farm animals, as described in the Gospel of Luke. A donkey and an ox (behind the manger) are typically depicted in the scene, as well as the Magi (three kings/wise men) and their camels, described in the Gospel of Matthew. Several cultures add other characters and objects that may be Biblical or not.

Distinctive nativity scenes and traditions have been created around the world and are displayed during the Christmas season in churches (as here), homes, shopping malls, and other venues, and occasionally on public lands and in public buildings.

After the success of previous Christmas Tree Festivals in past years, St Mary's, Old Basing decided to give everybody a fresh opportunity to be creative by filling St Mary's with Christmas Crib scenes.

These could be as traditional or as innovative as people wanted. There were some made of Lego and some made of gingerbread. This impressive display uses porcelain figures. Here the display looks a lot bigger than it actually was.

An old corn crib near Bethany, Illinois.

Discovering these old round clay tile corn cribs is always an interesting sidenote to a day out shooting. This one is located in rural Mercer County,IL.

This picture actually has an interesting story behind it. I have been to this location on three seperate occasions. There has always been this certain door that was locked. Was never able to see what was on the other side of said door ....

On my third visit to the place there was a modest hole right next to the door. It looked as if somebody decided they were not a fan of the locked door and used a sledge hammer to break through the concrete wall right next to it.

Sooo.. I took advantage of the situation and climbed through the newly renovated wall and found this nice little squat in the formally hidden room :)

If you are using firefox, make sure to click on the picture after you follow the link. The browser likes to adjust the image to fit your screen. It blurs and softens the detail in the process :(

It's still transitioning from the yoga room but we have the crib assembled and got the rug at the sheep and wool festival last weekend. 2 1/2 months to go!

Milk boy with Our Lady of Valankini

This is a Corn Crib, it is located between the Becky Cable House and the Drive Through Barn in Cades Cove, Tennessee.

The Corn Cribs were used for drying and storing corn. Once the corn is harvested corn still on the cob is stored in it with or without the husk. The corn crib has slatted sides so that air can circulate to dry the corn and to keep it dry. the slats also exposed the corn to pest so they were elevated above ground to prevent them from rodents.
