Culligan HD-950 filter housing installed on the wall, anchored to a wall stud, and ready for piping.

I then transferred these dimensions to the cut sheet rock.

Couldn't reach the nail heads with hammer or pliers. So I had to bust it out.

Completed valve trim installation.

Closeup shot of the Culligan HF-360 installed with the UB-1 bracket holding it in place

Bad wood removed from north shower wall.

Now it is time to see what is behind the west shower wall. This bathroom WILL NOT be rebuilt until it's integrity is verified. The insulation will not be replaced because the back porch was enclosed, making this now an inside wall

Around the valve we go. I don't know why, but he didn't use the "non slide" thin set. He used spacers on every tile and the lines ended up virtually perfect!

Exposing the inside of the south wall of the shower revealed much termite damage, but virtually no dry rot. And the plot thickens... only the beginning.

The "one hole straps" used to hold the copper should have been made of copper, or insulated with something. Intimate contact with dissimilar metals is undesirable.

It is customary to finish the walls first. However, since the floor was re-poured, we felt it better to ensure it's integrity prior to going further.

Here we go with the tile, all around the shower.

This is what happens when I get bored with a sharp knife and a nerf gun.

Minimized, hole filled with the dart holders and scrap plastic, ammo holders in the grip, second O ring, CPVC barrel

Virtually the entire floor stud was replaced without having to work on the other side of the wall. Even the baseboard remained in place.

All wetted PVC or CPVC construction for highly corrosive and high purity fluids. Ideal for water treatment, electrogalvanizing & pickling lines, & deionized water.

The curb is completely encased here... and grouted. Note how the grout lines align with the back (west) wall.

Time to complete the sheet rock. I measured the lighting electrical fixture relative to the perimeter of the missing sheet rock.

Chisel and grind...chisel and grind.

Side view of the enslosing of the base curb tile.

The first tile is THEE reference. The long level is used to verify it. After it sets awhile, the rest can be set.

in our 12 year old home, we need to replace all of our pipes because these CPVC FlowGuard Gold pipes have become brittle.

This breaker-bar is heavy-duty and about 6 feet long.

Okay, now it's time to open the remainder of the north wall. Need to check behind the wall for all types of damage and disrepair.

The bad stuff also had to be removed from the west wall of the shower.

What a mess was found behind the north wall. Leaky faucets, mold, and a myriad of other yet undiscovered issues.

So, I cut out the uncooperative section of the joint.

Once again, straps hammered and screwed in with deck screws. Also notice the tight fit. I like it like that.

When these mineral layers build up, you lose water pressure until the pipe is clogged. At any time, large pieces of the scale can break up and clog your pipes. Plastic pipes thus ensure smooth, constant drainage. ajaypipes.home.blog/2019/04/26/know-about-features-of-cop...

Here is the end result.

Red Gard is used on the joints. $45.00 per gallon, but we want it right.

Sometimes you have to rely on the pro's. Pouring this pan required the ability to set the drain pitch properly.

This galvanized strap was hammered into the 2X6 to secure it from motion. It worked well, but I was afraid it could work it's way out. It is not likely, but possible. So I anchored it with deck screws (illustrated later.)

Water sealer was used as deemed appropriate. However, I'm sure the shower will never leak (it is completed as of this writing.)

Chisel and grind.

This is a piece of the 2X6 which was removed for dry rot. Notice the roots, attracted by the moisture.

A cross member was added between two studs in order to prevent any theta motion on the new stud.

This view shows that once the backer board is attached to the furring, it can reach to the floor. Problem solved... well, almost. The plot continues to thicken.

Whole lotta termite activity here.

More of the same.

It will look better when it dries.

Time to demo the rotten wood.
