Alabama Governor Robert Bentley speaks at an announcement that Reliance Worldwide Corporation plans to create 130 jobs over five years at Cullman City Hall on Monday, Sept. 8, 2014. The Alabama facility, operating as Cash Acme, will feature new robotic and high-tech plastic and brass manufacturing processes. It also will include a research and development center and the SharkBite Training Academy. The SharkBite line is a push-to-connect system that allows plumbers to join copper, CPVC or PEX pipe without soldering clamps, unions or glue. Cash Acme produces valves, regulators and piping at an existing Cullman manufacturing facility. The company now employs 170 people in Cullman.
T2FD = Tilted Terminated Folded Dipole
Eight 1/2" CPVC tubes cut to 17.25" lengths. Wire holes (5/64") driled 1/4" from each end for 12AWG Copperweld antenna wire (steel center with copper jacket). Four spreaders on each side of the antenna spaced on 54" centers. Total weight added to the antenna is 1 lbs.

My camera with the new Sigma 50mm 1.4 Prime lens. Took this one in the new light tent. I built one using CPVC from an internet site and its a lot of fun. I spent the night running around the house looking for things to take pictures of.
He said there is about 70 feet of cpvc pipe in it. Some of the pipe which is rated for hot water melted when he was working on it because there was no water in the pipe. Needless to say this can produce a lot of hot water!
Here is the deco course in progress. The floor tiles (inserts) are actually thinner than the wall tiles. The tile installer had to work to make them flush. Again, he did an excellent job.
Along with the PEX installation is a single 13 Series Delta shower valve (background). This piece of wood is part of the spacing of the valve relative to the future wall face (porcelain tile). The deck screws top-left and bottom-right, will anchor the valve body to the 2X4 cross member. The two stainless screws will eventually hold the chrome cover plate against the completed wall. The mud ring should be approximately even with the surface of the finished wall.
Made of CPVC, it's simply a 3/4" coupling, an 11" length of pipe and an end cap with a series of holes is drilled near the bottom to direct the flow (called a spraybar)
It's held together with friction in case I want to disassemble it for cleaning. I painted it black using Krylon Fusion after taking this photo.

On the north wall of the shower, is revealed plastic pipe. There is more to be revealed, but this is the basic working area.
This is the best illustration of the misaligned concrete on the west wall. The sheet rock was attached to the wood just down to where the concrete protruded into the way. Then the cultured marble was set down into the slot running the length of the shower pan (floor) and glued to the sheet rock. How do you set tile against this jutting concrete? At first we were going to work the concrete. Instead, I got another idea. Please note that an actual chip of the old cultured marble is in the concrete slot.

The components of the level sensor. 3/4 and 1/2 inch CPVC water pipe. a half inch cap, and two 3/4 to 1/2 reducers. The reducer on the left shows the internal ridge to limit the depth of the half inch part but the one on the right has had the inner ridge filed off.

I was hoping that the tile piece which surrounds the water supply pipe from Noon to 3 O'clock would be square. That way the escutcheon would be equally spaced from the top and right. This is my only real disappointment with the tile installer. On the bright side... the thunderbox will hide it and no one will really ever notice it.

This grinder was really only useful for "cutting" the concrete. And it made an incredible amount of messy concrete dust. I was unable to get flush with the wood, so I had to grind a little and then bust with the bar. This was harder than I thought it would be.
just like a bench vice...but not a vice, or on the bench.
Note: This is actually 1/2" CPVC. I thought it would look a little nicer, but it ended up making too much backpressure and water sprayed out from the joint on the stock fitting.

The copper risers here are the water supply to the shower valves. On the other side of the wall is the bathtub in the adjacent bathroom. Notice the alkaline deposits on the plastic pipes. When the wall was opened, it revealed a 90 degree elbow with a minute drip. Who knows for how long? I'm sure this, combined with the leaky faucent is the cause of the rotten wood.
The grout is dried and sealed now. Notice how much better the area around the water supply looks. Okay, we took a gamble on this split closet flange ring because bolts keep it tight against the plastic (ABS) flange. It scarcely fit! Had to persuade it with a leather mallet on the north side.

The floor is covered to keep it clean. Here goes the installation of the Dens Tile Backer Board. This stuff is much better than the concrete stuff. The blue side is "rubber coated" and the back side is fiberglass. It is overkill, but the tile setter said he will guarantee it for life if we use what he calls for.

I thought it a good idea to pressure check the shower stem neck (whatever you call it) because it had never yet seen pressure. The valve has been off since installation. We don't want any water leaks behind the tile again, do we? so I installed the neck, pulled the escutcheon out, and while under pressure, inspected the fittings with a bright L.E.D. flashlight. It passed!

Almost there.
The Culligan HD-950 filter housing is installed on the opposite wall so that it can be anchored to a wall stud, you should see the huge bolts they sent with the mouting bracket for this thing. I'll run the CPVC pipe over to that wall and then over to the filter housing. This filter housing will hold the GAC, Granular Activated Charcoal, filter to remove the chlorine from the water before entering the water softener, seen just below (the softener controller is the black box next to the water heater).
