This is emotion
Emotion less war
A torn shirt and a long dead cause
I can't sleep
This kind of thing gets me down
Don't say walk
I may lose my fear
I could lose myself
In this honesty
I could lose myself
In this honesty
I read all sorts of things
There's so much to learn
I've seen the hand that rushes in
As it rush over you
I could lose myself
In this honesty
I could lose myself
In this honesty

I could lose myself
In this honesty
I could lose myself
In this honesty
I could lose myself
In this honesty
I could lose myself
In this honesty

I made a few mistakes, I regret it nightly
I broke a couple hearts that I wear on my sleeve
My momma always said, "Girl, you're trouble" and
And now I wonder, could you fall for a woman like me?

Image 53 in this series of the capturing of the BULB capture. Here it is of pretty Acadia, Maine in late afternoon. The LCD screen is photoshopped in from the long exposure capture being taken at this time. This series allows the viewer to see conditions as they were during the shot, and then the resulting long exposure effect on the water and clouds.
Other images in this series can be seen in The Album "If They Could See What We Can See"
This is the first shot of many that i took today whilst out on a long walk with my 3 boys.
It was a test to see if Razz's heart could keep up the pace .... which it did with flying colours!!!!!!
He has been asleep on and off ever since we arrived back home. The boy is very tired!
"If I could face them
If I could make amends with all my shadows
I'd bow my head and welcome them
But I feel it burning
Like when the winter wind stops my breathing
Are you really gonna love me when I'm gone?
I fear you won't
I fear you don't
And it echoes when I breathe
'Til all you'll see is my ghost
Empty vessel, crooked teeth
Wish you could see
And they call me under
And I'm shaking like a leaf
And they call me under
And I wither underneath in this storm
I am a stranger
I am an alien inside a structure
Are you really gonna love me when I'm gone?
With all my thoughts
And all my faults
I feel it biting
I feel it break my skin, so uninviting
Are you really gonna need me when I'm gone?
I fear you won't
I fear you don't
And it echoes when I breathe
'Til all you'll see is my ghost
Empty vessel, crooked teeth
Wish you could see
And they call me under
And I'm shaking like a leaf
And they call me under
And I wither underneath in this storm
I feel it
And they call me under
And I'm shaking like a leaf
And they call me underneath to this storm".

I could see Mt. Hood, Mt. Adams, and Mt. Saint Helen. Perhaps Mt. Rainier was visible too, but I couldn't see through the trees to my left. This is Mt. Hood.

I feel like I'm losing my mind
She crept into your life
And cut me up like a knife
Few things I wanna say
Still got my dignity
No one will love you like me
(Yeah)
Well shes prettier than i'll ever be
Got yourself a beauty queen
(Yeah)
But there's one thing I gotta say
She can love you good
But I can fk you better
My way remember screaming my name
Cuz I could sex your brain
But she don't do it that way
I could photograph this place forever.

Ben Harvey accordion and his band Ornamentals are not entertaining very often. You could probably count their yearly performances on one hand. I for one, look forward to hear this band, as accordion is rarely used in jazz. Ben always dresses up and his bandmates have to keep up. Benson Lee on jazz banjo, Great Bob Scott on drums and Gram Whitty -bass upright bass. Gene Harvey played sax, but is not always available as he performs all over the world. Ben and Gene are also very capable singers, so good entertainment is guaranteed.

"Stressed Out"
I wish I found some better sounds no one's ever heard
I wish I had a better voice that sang some better words
I wish I found some chords in an order that is new
I wish I didn't have to rhyme every time I sang
I was told when I get older all my fears would shrink
But now I'm insecure and I care what people think
My name's 'Blurryface' and I care what you think
My name's 'Blurryface' and I care what you think
Wish we could turn back time, to the good old days
When our momma sang us to sleep but now we're stressed out (oh)
Wish we could turn back time (oh), to the good old days (oh)
When our momma sang us to sleep but now we're stressed out
We're stressed out
Sometimes a certain smell will take me back to when I was young
How come I'm never able to identify where it's coming from
I'd make a candle out of it if I ever found it
Try to sell it, never sell out of it, I'd probably only sell one
It'd be to my brother, 'cause we have the same nose
Same clothes homegrown a stone's throw from a creek we used to roam
But it would remind us of when nothing really mattered
Out of student loans and tree-house homes we all would take the latter
My name's 'Blurryface' and I care what you think
My name's 'Blurryface' and I care what you think
Wish we could turn back time, to the good old days
When our momma sang us to sleep but now we're stressed out (oh)
Wish we could turn back time (oh), to the good old days (oh)
When our momma sang us to sleep but now we're stressed out
We used to play pretend, give each other different names
We would build a rocket ship and then we'd fly it far away
Used to dream of outer space but now they're laughing at our face
Saying, "Wake up, you need to make money."
Yeah
We used to play pretend, give each other different names
We would build a rocket ship and then we'd fly it far away
Used to dream of outer space but now they're laughing at our face
Saying, "Wake up, you need to make money."
Yeah
Wish we could turn back time, to the good old days
When our momma sang us to sleep but now we're stressed out (oh)
Wish we could turn back time (oh), to the good old days (oh)
When our momma sang us to sleep but now we're stressed out
Used to play pretend, used to play pretend, bunny
We used to play pretend, wake up, you need the money
Used to play pretend, used to play pretend, bunny
We used to play pretend, wake up, you need the money
We used to play pretend, give each other different names
We would build a rocket ship and then we'd fly it far away
Used to dream of outer space but now they're laughing at our face
Saying, "Wake up, you need to make money."
Yeah
How could it be otherwise. This photo was taken for such a banal reason, I was actually just looking for a parking space here. However, I found something completely different.

Taking advantage of the visit to the city of Calatayud, you could not miss to see the TER 9701 located next to the station.
My favorite time to be on the beach is when the tide is coming in. Bulging waves roll up further and further, until they overtake the dry sand. They bring with them treasures from the deep. It’s exciting when the ocean leans forward to say hello, as it were.
Contrary to every instinct, we spend most of our modern lives trapped in square boxes, whether in vehicles or buildings, and also in mental boxes, and we languish in our prison of stasis. There, we obsess about power struggles. Could it be because we have cut ourselves off from the experience of nature’s power?
The tide is coming in. Plump waves are rolling up the beach. Tidda responds. She becomes animated. She feels the spirit of the sea rising and we both feel the energy. The breath of life enters us. My mood lifts. I laugh and feel playful. We have stepped into nature’s flow of power. When the tide rises, all rise together. When it sinks, all sink together.
" When I was young and in my prime,
And could wander wild and free,
There was always a longing in my mind,
For to follow the call of the sea,
So Ill sing farewell to Carlingford,
And farewell to Greenore,
And Ill think of you both day and night,
Until I return once more,
Until I return once more,
Now I had a girl called Mary Doyle,
And she lived in Greenore,
And the foremost thought that was in her mind,
Was to keep me safe on the shore,
For a landsmans life it is all his own,
He can go or he can stay,
But when the sea it gets in your blood,
Its a call you must obey,
So Ill sing farewell to Carlingford,
And farewell to Greenore,
And Ill think of you both day and night,
Until I return once more,
Until I return once more "
{Tommy Makem}
The pretty town of Carlingford lies on the Cooley peninsula, surrounded by the mountains of the same name, in Co.Louth, close to the border in the Irish Republic.
Founded by the vikings, its Norse name is " Kerlingfjoror "
which means a narrow inlet or sea hag.
The view is looking north across the ford towards the Mournes and Greencastle, Co. Down. The invisible border between North and South, runs down the centre of the lough. It has been invisible for 20 years and gone are the troops and the minesweepers patroling the lough on both sides, thanks to wonderful work and effort of the Irish and British governments, and the people who forgave so much to try and bring a lasting peace.
Lets hope that good sense prevails as I dont know anyone, north or south who wants a border on our island and what that could imply. 3500 died because of the trouble and it was not worth one drop of human blood.. Never again!!! There is no one here who hasnt been affected by it, myself included.
The ferry travels daily across the lough from Greenore to Greencastle and lots of tourists, cyclists and walkers go this way to exlore the area.
I intend to get back there in the Spring as I want to see so much more of this llittle known gem.

An administrator contacted me during the week bemoaning the fact that activity has fallen off in groups and blaming Flickr. I dont agree! Activity has fallen off because the members cant be bothered faving photos or they only do one photo of a particular member. I almost always Fave more than one. If someone Favourites one of my pics, I always check out their photo stream and Fave 2,3, 4 or more of theirs if I can find ones I like. It only takes a minute and most peope do respond. I would ask everyone to fave each others photos in as much as possible as it makes such a difference. I would never Fave a photo that I didnt think was good enough as its disloyal and gives a false impression. I expect the same treatment from others. So please do fave one anothers photos as it makes such a difference. I also go through quite a number of groups every week and try to Fave as many as I can though I understand it takes time. So do try to be generous!
I appreciate all the kind Words, Faves and wondeful Inspiration that has been afforded me by my great friends and aquaintances here! Thanks! Your pretty amazing!!!

Another self portrait. The room I built from painted plywood and the door is a dollhouse door that I stained and topcoated. I then photoshopped myself into the tiny room to give more of a feeling of a vast space.

Yes, you could (probably). "But I am old, slightly autistic with a serious narcissistic stretch and, also, I know nothing." Don't worry, people worse than you have become Prime Minister or President of the US. "But would I not lose my marbles or make decisions I don't even understand?" No problem, just surround yourself with some trusted friends. "What if they dig up some dirt way back in my past?" Happens all the time, we know how to deal with this. "Then, I could do it?" Yeap, you are totally qualified.

I would not like to walk into this spider web!! Talk about doing the Matrix dance lol I'm not sure what kind of spider this is. I have seen them on different nature hikes in Texas. LOOK AT THAT BIG SPIDER has always been what my family and I call them hahaha
Like many others I’ve been mining the archives as opportunities to get out and shoot diminish. This is from our 2017 meet-up in British Columbia with a bunch of the kindest, most talented photographers you could ever hope to meet. As you know by now, I love when artists use music to tell a story, weaving the music and the lyrics into a tale filled with emotion and colours. Don McLean is one of those Artists who masterfully achieve this. Vincent is an Ode to the dutch painter Vincent Van Gogh (1853 - 1890). He struggled with mental illness all through his life and died at his own hands at the age of just 37. During his life, he barely sold any of his paintings. Which makes the fact that these days they are worth millions kind of a cruel joke. Don McLean weaved numerous paintings of VanGogh into his Lyrics, which is another nice touch
Starry, starry night
Paint your palette blue and gray
Look out on a summer's day
With eyes that know the darkness in my soul
Shadows on the hills
Sketch the trees and the daffodils
Catch the breeze and the winter chills
In colors on the snowy, linen land
Now, I understand what you tried to say to me
And how you suffered for your sanity
And how you tried to set them free
They would not listen, they did not know how
Perhaps they'll listen now
Starry, starry night
Flaming flowers that brightly blaze
Swirling clouds in violet haze
Reflect in Vincent's eyes of china blue
Colors changing hue
Morning fields of amber grain
Weathered faces lined in pain
Are soothed beneath the artist's loving hand
Now, I understand, what you tried to say to me
How you suffered for your sanity
How you tried to set them free
They would not listen, they did not know how
Perhaps they'll listen now
For they could not love you
But still your love was true
And when no hope was left inside
On that starry, starry night
You took your life as lovers often do
But I could have told you, Vincent
This world was never meant for one
As beautiful as you
Starry, starry night
Portraits hung in empty halls
Frameless heads on nameless walls
With eyes that watch the world and can't forget
Like the strangers that you've met
The ragged men in ragged clothes
The silver thorn of bloody rose
Lie crushed and broken on the virgin snow
Now, I think I know what you tried to say to me
How you suffered for your sanity
How you tried to set them free
They would not listen, they're not listening still
Perhaps they never will
If Ansel could see the future of photography during his day, would he be jealous and envy the ease of capturing the beauty of a place? I don't think so. In many ways, I envy his day. The work you suffer to obtain the reward is often the real beauty of the end result. Fortunately, photography does not come easy for me. I have to work at it, struggle through it. This is why I love it. Because when I get it right, the work becomes play.
After the trailing SD70ACe could no longer pump air, and the trailing GE was already bad ordered, the thinking heads in Adams made the decision to attach an SD40N to the front of the daily MALPR. Fortunately, a 0200 departure from Adams ensured that the train would be in daylight down in my neck of the woods. While I didn’t wake up until it was already out of Butler, I was able to make it to the searchlight signal at Bain, WI, on the north side of Kenosha.
Growing up along the Kenosha Sub, I was no stranger to seeing ATS pilots leading the foreign coal trains; but they had unfortunately disappeared when PTC was activated, and that was before I knew what I was doing as a photographer. While this is the Milwaukee Sub (a line that never had ATS), and a manifest, rather than an Oak Creek coal (or a Harvard grain, which I also never got), it was still nice to catch this as a throwback to my childhood.
I only wish I could go back and shoot more of the coal trains.
Hmm! Just having White Balance issues in Lightroom 6! I am VERY new to this programme and needed to check my EXIF info. Please excuse! Hah! I see I shot this with Auto WB. Could THAT be my problem because my WB never seems really out of whack and I cannot get the choices to show up on LR - sunny, cloudy, shade, tungsten etc! even though I have imported Raw files!! I'll work it out but if anyone has any brilliant suggestions, please advise! Thanks.
Could not resist posting just one more of these little blue beauties. I pray they will find our backyard.
Thanks for all the encouraging comments and likes. Always appreciated !! Have a blessed day !!
The Spirit of Summerland on a Christmas run.
The day I thought of photographing the Christmas Train, I went to Summerland a couple of hours early to scout out a few spots where the train went by. My original idea was to photograph it while it was stopped on the Trout Creek Bridge, but when I got there, the bridge was out of commission. So I decided somewhere along the route would be OK if I could find a spot that was well lit. No such luck. I went back to this location, and it was so dark that I almost gave up. With the help of my car's headlights and the camera on manual mode I prefocused and set the ISO to 6400, aperture at f2.8 and shutter speed to 100 and hoped I got something. In the end, I hand held the camera and took a few shots as it went by. I decided on this picture as it shows the smoke and steam really well considering how dark it was.
I could still see my destination on the snow covered path. It doesn't matter which direction I will take as each step is a fresh imprint on the white snow.
Let's all take fresh steps and reach our destinations for the new year.
This is one of those new-to-camera- lens-yard-and-me shots. The house wren arrived some days ago but I was unable to get a shot off until today. Not sure what she’s up to. She’s been checking out all the holes left by the downies and nuthatches and seems to like this one the best. Her pose seems to indicate that she feels she’s part of the in-crowd and I am just glad she acquiesced to do this shoot.
Naturally, this shot was facilitated by perfect positioning of the Adirondack. The major challenge was, however, to not drift off into a snooze. This was accomplished by some mental gymnastics that involved perfecting the recipe for what I call Apple Blossom. Of course it’s not a flower, it’s the perfect summer drink. I was introduced to this in the early eighties in Victoria’s Inner Harbour in a place called the Captain’s Palace (changed to Huntingdon Mansion). It’s one of those Victorian mansions converted into a restaurant and they really serve(d) wonderful fare. And part of the breakfast menu was, you guessed it, the Apple Blossom. I could have stayed there all day sipping this nectar of the gods and observing the goings on in the harbor. They never did tell me what the ingredients were but due to my tenacious nature (I’ve been called a pit bull) I am now getting awfully close and finally reaping the fruits of my labor.
