Opened in the summer of 1976, Sears at Woodland Hills Mall in Tulsa, Oklahoma was a flagship anchor of the city's first multi-level enclosed regional shopping mall. Woodland Hills Mall was developed by Tulsa Associates, the name given to a joint venture between Sears' subsidiary Homart Development Company and Dayton-Hudson Corporation.

A John A. Brown department store was another flagship anchor at Woodland Hills Mall. An Oklahoma department store chain, John A. Brown was owned by Dayton-Hudson. The third anchor that opened with the mall in 1976 was Dillard's. In 1984, Dayton-Hudson sold off the John A. Brown chain to Dillard's. In the case of Woodland Hills, conversion of the John A. Brown store to Dillard's would have resulted in duplication of Dillard's anchors at the mall. Instead, the John A. Brown store at Woodland Hills was converted to a JCPenney store.

Sanger Harris was added as the fourth anchor store at Woodland Hills as part of the mall's 1982 expansion. This expansion extended the mall eastward and also included a food court. Sanger Harris at Woodland Hills Mall was the company's first store located outside of Texas. A 1987 merger of Sanger Harris with Foley's resulted in all Sanger Harris stores being rebranded as Foley's. The Sanger Harris store at Woodland Hills Mall operated as Foley's until being converted to Macy's in September 2006.

Only Sears and Dillard's have remained as original anchor stores of Woodland Hills Mall throughout the center's history. This will change with the imminent departure of Sears, which is expected to occur by January 6, 2019 or possibly sooner. As of January 5, 2019 the store appears to be completely closed. I don't expect the exterior Sears signs to shine at night much longer.

The closing of Sears Woodland Hills leaves Tulsa without a Sears department store. Most Tulsans have never known the city without Sears.

An old photograph taken in a depot (Broadshawgate?) of Bolton Corporation Tramways (BCT) trams No. 29 and No. 73 both showing an 'E' destination blind. Route 'E' was Bolton - Deane - Punch Lane - Westhoughton.

The photo reverse is stamped with the photographer (and/or negative owner) name H. B. Priestley and the date 8 Nov 1937.

Nos. 29/73 were open top cars with unvestibuled platforms built by the Electric Railway and Tramway Carriage Works (ER&TCW) in 1899 and 1902 respectively seating 22/29 and 30/46, 29 ran on a a Brill 21E truck whereas 73 ran on Brill 22E bogies. Both had received a balcony top cover by 1914 and fully enclosed tops in 1924-27 (car 29) and 1929-30 (car 73), they were withdrawn from service before the fleet renumbering (300 added to the number) took place in 1940. The parts of the Bolton tramways system that had not already been withdrawn or transferred to trolleybus/bus operation closed in Mar 1947.

Any photograph, ephemera, etc I post on Flickr is in my possession, nothing is copied from another location. The original photographer may have taken copies from their original negative and passed them out (sold them?) so there may be other copies out there of your (and my) 'original' transport photo, although occasionally there may be 'holiday snaps' type photos where there are not any other photos exactly the same in existence.

In the 50th year since the closure of Glasgow's extensive tramway system, this former Blackpool tram is presented in Glasgow livery. Like Blackpool and Liverpool, Glasgow was one the few transport undertakings to invest in modern double-deck bogie trams - each to their own distinctive designs. Blackpool choose this elegent streamlined design by the English Electric Company, whilst Glasgow built the more angular 'Cunarder' in its own workshops

Glasgow Corporation Tramways was one of the largest urban tramway systems in Europe, with over 1,000 trams and more than 100 route miles by 1922. The system closed in 1962 and was the last 'traditional' city tramway in Great Britain (19-Sep-12).
