Incident 19 Aug 2020 at LAX landed with left-hand side landing gear not fully extended, causing the aircrafts left-hand engine to scrape along the runway

returned to service 15 Sep 2020

What a day Lothians Doors open day and vintage running was as busy as ever. Here we see one of the main attractions Old Aberdeen corporation Tranport 155 heading back to it's home in Fife.

Outside the station in March 1973. Bit of schizophrenia on the Regent's blind display! There are a couple of Leyland Panthers behind.

An old photograph of Liverpool Corporation Passenger Transport (LCPT) tram No. 762 showing '25 - Aigburth Vale - Netherfield Rd - Moss St - Princes Park' destination blinds. Liverpool Corporation Tramways (LCT) changed its name to LCPT in May 1934.

Thanks to fred collins for the location.

"762 seen at the Carisbrooke Road Walton terminus. The rather fine terrace of houses which overlooked the Walton tram depot have now gone (as has the depot.) and is now a B & M store car park!"

The photo reverse is stamped with the photographer (and/or negative owner) name of H. B. Priestly, and the date 25 Apr 1938.

No. 762 was an 'English Electric bogie car' built by LCT at its Edge Lane Works going into service *Dec 1931, it seated 28/42 and ran on English Electric monomoter equal wheel bogies. In 1932-33 it had its destination boxes moved from over the upper saloon window to above the drivers screen, in 1937 was given a green livery, and in Mar 1938 (another source says 1939) was reconditioned, getting replacement EMB lightweight bogies. It was withdrawn from service in Apr 1955.

No. 762 has survived and runs on the Birkenhead heritage line. Its history after being withdrawn, and photographs of it running, are on the 'Merseyside Tramway Preservation Society' site:-

www.mtps.co.uk/762.htm

The parts of the Liverpool tramways system that had not already been withdrawn or transferred to bus operation closed in Sep 1957.

* There is a photo of 762 outside Edge Lane Works a few months before it went into service, and one of it in Dale Street, in 'Liverpool Transport' by J. B. Horne & T. B. Maund (Vol 3, p85 and Vol 4, p117).

Preserved Liverpool Corporation Crossley bodied Leyland Titan PD2 L227 at the July MTT Open Day.

The latest heritage repainted by the top team at Hunslet Park is this one of 37732 carrying a splendid recreation of the Bradford Corporation Livery.

By the time I had got to Hunslet, the sun had disappeared and this is the best effort I could muster up.

Lurking in the background is one of Hunslet' own heritage liveries, West Yorkshire Roadcar after having some routine maintence.

Seen here in Market Hill, Luton in the late 1960's is Leyland PD2 / East Lancs 159 ANM of Luton Corporation. The vehicle had been new to the undertaking in July 1960 and was one of a number of similar vehicles that had been purchased new in the second half of the 1950's. It was a member of the closing fleet and passed to United Counties in January 1970 but only worked for a short time before withdrawal.

Back in 2014 we at Reliance Bus Works had this 'unusual' ex Liverpool Corporation Bristol RELL6G in for some work. The uncompromising lines of its Park Royal bodywork are a bit of a jar to the senses if you're more used to the ECW bodied variety. However it was good to have something so different to sample. I forget now what was required of us, but here SKB 695G is, out on a road test in Chesterton (Staffs), our local village. Judging by the lack of foliage and the stark light, I'd guess at this being a winter shot.

The Kaiser-Frazer Corporation was formed in July 1945 by two successful businessmen Henry J. Kaiser (1882-1967) and Joseph W. Frazer (1892-1971).

Immediately after the war their industrial activities changed to develop and produce cars.

In the first three years the Kaiser-Frazer Corp. was quite successful. The company offered cars simultaneously under two different brand names: Frazer and Kaiser. The sub-companies shared bodies and technics.

The first cars appeared in August 1946.

All Kaiser models were face-lifted for model year 1949.

New for 1949 was the Traveller Utility Sedan. This was a combination of a kind of commercial hatchback with a station wagon. The car had a back door which opened in two parts. The backseat could easily folded down to create cargo space. Industrial designer Howard "Dutch" Darrin (USA, 1897-1982) had a main influence on the styling, but the designs were revised by Robert Cadwallader.

Alex Tremulis (USA, 1914-1991) joined the design team in 1950 (after the 1948 Tucker failure).

The Vagabond was the luxury version of the Traveller. About 4500 units in total were built.

The photo reverse is signed by the photographer and negative owner A. D. Packer and dated 29/6/56.

No. 137 was a domed roof Standard car built by ECT at its Shrubhill Works using a Hurst Nelson underframe, it seated 24/38, ran on a 4-wheel Peckham P22 truck, and went into service in 1935.

In 1956 it was withdrawn from passenger service and scrapped, the parts of the Edinburgh tramways system that had not already been withdrawn or transferred to bus operation closing in November of that year.

Number 8 was one of the ex Bournemouth Corporation Tramway open top trams, they were numbered 6-15 in the Llandudno & Colwyn Bay fleet.

The picture does lean left but to correct it would mean losing some of the street scene with the two ladies crossing and behind them the fruit shop and a Bedford CA parked with two wheels on the pavement. In front of the tram North Wales Floorings seems to be a general decorators shop and the sell Permoglaze paints. This brand was my father's favourite, he worked on the principal that the stronger the smell the better the paint and Permoglaze did smell...

Although older vehicles aren't really my cup of tea, something this quirky had to feature!!

After doing some digging, I was quite surprised to see this was bodied by Northern Counties, as it looks more like an Eastern Coach Works product to me!!
