Out there on your own on a stormy day, it's still pretty easy to stay connected - as this person seemed to be doing. For us over the last few weeks, it was more about some long overdue family time. Back home now, it will take a few days to catch up, but I look forward to seeing what my Flickr friends have been up to and re-connecting.

C'est une ballade magnifique qui offre des points de vue extraordinaires sur la côte, les plages et les villes alentour comme Toulon.
À l'origine, l'île de Giens était semblable à ses voisines, les îles d'Hyères. Jusqu'au jour où, il y a plusieurs milliers d'années, s'opéra lentement un phénomène naturel le plus curieux de toute la méditerranée : le double tombolo (les deux cordons sableux qui relient l’île au continent).
La randonnée sur la Presqu’île de Giens est une boucle de 6km autour du port de la Madrague. C’est une balade d’une étonnante richesse qui parcourt différents milieux, allant de la pinède littorale au milieu dunaire, en passant par le littoral. Des paysages aussi diversifiés que surprenants à découvrir !

It is a beautiful ballad that offers extraordinary views of the coast, beaches and surrounding towns like Toulon.
Originally, the island of Giens was similar to its neighbors, the islands of Hyères. Until the day when, thousands of years ago, there was slowly a most curious natural phenomenon of all the Mediterranean: the double tombolo (the two sandy cords that connect the island to the continent).
The hike on the peninsula of Giens is a loop of 6km around the port of Madrague. It is a stroll of astonishing richness that goes through different environments, ranging from the coastal pine forest to the dune, passing by the coast. Landscapes as diverse as surprising to discover!

2021 es el Año Europeo del Ferrocarril y para visibilizarlo se ha creado el "Connecting Europe Express", un tren que recorre 26 países, comenzando el 2 de septiembre en Lisboa y terminando el 7 de Octubre en París. Para su recorrido por la Península Ibérica se ha utilizado una rama Talgo de 4ª generación vinilizada para tal efecto. En la imagen la vemos por La Bureba ya de regreso de la frontera francesa con doble de 252 en cabeza, la segunda remolcada.

The Delray Connecting emerges out of the hell that is Zug Island with finished steel, coke, and other shit to be interchanged with CN at South Yard in Ecorse. In the background is Belanger interlocking which is still protected by DT&I searchlights. Although most of the hot mill operations at the Great Lakes Works have been indefinitely idled since 2020, steel processing and coke production continue at the plant, for now.

Een klein half uur voor de Thalys was ook de TGV naar Rennes gepasseerd. Voor deze trein had ik een plek aan de Nieuwstraat in Edingen uitgekozen.
Dat was eerder pragmatisch ingegeven want ik was eigenlijk aan de late kant vertrokken. Dat er dan ook opnieuw werken waren op de A8, deed het stressniveau geen goed. Uiteindelijk had ik nog één minuut over vooraleer de trein in de verte opdook.
Maar één minuut is genoeg en zo snelde deze trein aan mijn lens voorbij terwijl de laatste bui in de verte wegtrok.

More or less half an hour before the Thalys, I already could take this photo of a TGV connecting Brussels to Rennes.
In the meantime the classic TGV colours scheme of blue and grey has been replaced on almost all trains by the Carmillon design. Nevertheless still a nice view I think.

The impressive Puente Nuevo (New Bridge) is connecting the northern with the sounthern part of Ronda in Analusia.

My search for a new scenic locations continues. This is a quite far located village in my region. About 200 km of bad roads of clay. But what a good location this is. I don't remember so many birds and animals living wild and so close to the people. And people living so close to each other and so welcomed us, the aliens.
The most attractive subject in this village is a wooden bridge - not reliable but poetic. Especially in the early morning hour. We spent several hours walking there and back, watching the sun goes up and the company of swans that stopped for a sleep while we were there.
