Yes, it’s true. I’m a closet Abba fan… and I always have been.
In fact, I am the only non-gay male Abba fan in England!
Although my Abba CDs are carefully hidden behind Fleetwood Mac, Shawn Colvin and the Clash… Agnetha, Anni-Frid, Bjorn and Betty will always be my first choice.

Knowing me, knowing you… aha.

Helen… this is my submission to the “A GUILTY PLEASURE” photo challenge (and sorry it took so long).
performing A room with a view with vocals by Helen Forrest on Bluebird Records recorded in 1938. This record is played on a 1915 Columbia Grafonola. This one is equipped with a 12" turntable, internal horn and a triple-spring motor which sails through several 78s on a full winding. It was introduced in 1915 with a price of $50.00
Went climbing at the Arch this morning. It was OK when we arrived at just after 10am, but by the time we left an hour and a half later, the January effect had well and truly kicked in - it was so busy! I'm sure the same has started happening in gyms everywhere, too....
Had a play around with some aluminium foil, a CD, a drop of water and my macro lens this afternoon - and came up with this. I also cooked a massive sweet potato curry, which Tim and I had for dinner, and which will continue to feed me for lunch for several days.
Watched Sherlock this evening - very good!

Q: How do you organize your music collection for scalability?
I need to free up space on my hard drive, which means I will be burning a number of CDs. I stripped my caselogics and laid out my cd's alphabetically. I also separated the genres of jazz, classical, and world. Before I put these CDs (many of which are stacked) back into their cases, I'd like to know how best to address the scalability issue of caselogics.
Should I leave four or five empty slots at the end of each letter?
And what about genre? Should I create an R&B genre? Does Reggae go into World?
What are, in your opinion, the best practices for organizing your music collection?
I have yet to take my organization of information class...
Alice ate some of the mushroom and shrank down to less than a tenth her normal size. "A good size for being able to move about and explore without being easily seen," she reasoned.
She wandered into a strange house and found herself in a room with many books and peculiar flat boxes with shiny metal discs. What the metal discs were for eluded her. Perhaps they were a type of collectable currency, like her uncle's coin collection, which had some Asian coins with holes in the center.
This was taken by reflecting the clouds on the back of a compact disc. A compact disc is now kept in the camera bag, for creating impromptu effects.

12/52 - "Disappearing Technologies"
The concepts may not be disappearing so much as our reliance on the specific form factors is diminishing.
I tried using OCF for this, but it turned out a longer exposure with the regular house lights gave me a better result that I was looking for - a couple of daylight balanced LED light bulbs (replacing the disappearing incandescent lights, which seem to be only found for decorative bulbs here in the States) and a little bit of touch up in Photoshop was all I needed.
I thought the colors and patterns in this shot were interesting and gave it an abstract quality.

ARTE BANALE
Banale, semplice ma sempre di grande effetto: qualche goccia d'acqua su un cd, luce et voilà!
Si si lo so ne avete viste di cotte e di crude e li avete visti in tutte le salse...ma questo è il mio primo esperimento...che dite? =)
Banal, simple but always effective: some water drops an a cd, light and that's it!
Yes yes i know you have seen lot of this composition done in every possible way...but this is my first experiment...what dou you think? =)

Hope the Music link works ; "Rising For The Moon"
I got the Beatles CD box set of stereo remasters recently to delve more deeply into the Fab Four's catalogue; especially the early albums, which I don't know as well as the later ones. I've got a lot of listening to do over the next few months!
For the 'Collection' theme in the 52 Weeks 2015 Edition group.
I'm listening to their first album 'Please Please Me' a lot currently, so here's Twist and Shout on YouTube.

This is a few months' worth. Even though we are in an age when "everyone" downloads his or her music - or so the popular media often like to tell us - I still prefer to have the physical object. I'm sure this stems from an album-buying habit that started in 1973. Not that I'm saying online music is bad, on the contrary I think it is a fantastically versatile and cost-effective way for people to enjoy music, and for artists to reach an audience, but it is not the only way. I particularly like one of the buttons on the CD player, not because of what it does, but because of how it is labelled. Given my choice of music shown here, can you guess which button?

I hope this comes across as witty as I think it did. Maybe better than my last attempt at being witty?
This turntable is part of a 1970s wooden console stereo system we got from my father-in-law. I really would like to spend some time fixing it and restoring it, I just never think about it amongst all the other things I find myself doing regularly.
Clear CD holders stacked. An example of photoelastic birefringence. Focus stacked but colours not Photoshopped. Shot on top of an iPad with a white display in daylight and a circular polarizer on my lens. Rotating the polarizer caused the psychedelic colours you see here to change and the background to go black!

We had come looking for the keys to the ruins of the khar (fortress or castle in Ladakhi), which was not found instead stumbled upon a well hidden and less frequented village. Along with the cave gompa, which can boast of hundreds of years of history. Enriching experiences no doubt.
It is time for us to take leave and thank rimpoche for his kindness, hospitality and time. Descending from the monastery terrace we look around the vista that surrounds us for the final time. Stand still on hearing a sweet and melodious tinkle.
Must be one of the young residents of the monastery who has attached a compact disc with a drylbu (bell). Perhaps, this is what modern Ladakh is all about, peaceful and harmonious co-existence of the new with the ancient.
