The sea was probably 24C, lovely once you are in. I was quite happy with two swims per visit.

Exeter Ship Canal, Exminster, Devon.

I guess this shows why the time before sunrise is called the "Blue Hour" as it is certainly very blue. Just a bit of a tinge to the low thin cloud on the horizon from the lights over on the far side of the Exe estuary, which there is just a glimpse of at the left of the pic, behind the far bank of the canal. The lights at the far right are from Exmouth (might well be Lympstone), where the River Exe meets the sea..

With the sky starting to lighten and the moon still shining to light my way, it was time to head off and get ready for the coming of the big ball of fire to rise above the horizon. Thats when we change from the Blue to the Golden or Magic hour, quite rightly named too, it is a magical time :~)

Secretary Walker, Public Health Director Dr. Karyl Rattay and Senior Social Services Administrator Jay Lynch joined speakers and panelists for "Coming Together: A Community Response to Hunger," coordinated by the Food Bank of Delaware on April 6 at the Chase Center. More than 600 attendees, including 225 students, heard from Food Bank CEO Patricia Beebe, "When you talk to kids it's simple: People are hungry. Fix it."

Students Braeden Mannering, founder of Brae's Brown Bags, and Hannah Sturgis, a Polytech senior, asked students to get involved on behalf of children and adults who are hungry.

Secretary Walker said about 150,000 Delawareans, including almost 70,000 children receive food benefits each month that average about $1.38 per meal per person. "How do you figure out how to feed yourself or your family on less than $2 per meal?" In addition, about 19,000 Delawareans are served by the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program.

Agriculture Secretary Michael Scuse said he is committed to bringing food hubs to Delaware, expanding community gardens, increasing farmer's markets that take EBT cards and WIC vouchers, and using technology to increase farmers' yields.

Patricia Dombroski, administrator for the Food and Nutrition Services in the Mid-Atlantic Region, announced that Delaware's Summer EBT program would continue this summer. Thousands of Delaware students receive an additional $30 a month on their families' EBT cards during the summer months to meet their food needs when they aren't in school.

Ashley Biden, executive director of the Delaware Center for Justice, encouraged attendees to be "committed to planting seeds of hope and justice." "Nourish yourself," she said, "so you can nourish others."
