Part of my final project for my first BFA photography course at Arizona State University. My project, called Coming & Going, includes three elements. First, using the photographic version of a pentimento (in this case, double exposures). Second, paying homage to one of Thomas Struth's first exhibits, which featured photos of streets in New York City and his hometown of Dusseldorf (in my case, New York City and Des Moines). Finally, based on a project proposed by Alec Soth, combine a photograph with some basic descriptive text, and then consider whether it's better with or without the words.

Slightly different as the previous post same location but taken in landscape orientation with a 2:1 crop inspired by Joel Tjintjelaar. I love panoramic images but they are impossible to take using long exposures and a DLSR.

Die Eskalation im Nahen Osten beeinträchtigt den internationalen Flugverkehr zwischen Europa und Asien.
Auch Bekannte warten auf Kreuzfahrtschiffen.
Das ist gefährlich. Nahe der Aida gab es Einschläge.
Nur über Umwege, zum Beispiel Riad, kann man in die Heimat fliegen.

We were on the viewing deck at the top of the gondola ride at Heavenly Valley when this glider took a few passes by. They were so close you could easily hear the wind over the wings as they passed.
This elegant and agile flier accompanied us for quite a long time, alongside the ship, whist we were eating... View On Black Flying... for the joy of it...
