A quiet day on the river in front of the castle.

Usually when I've been down there the river has either been fast-flowing or wind-whipped (occasionally both!). So it was good to see some reflections, even though there must be dozens of similar shots on flickr!

For any eagle-eyed followers of Downton Abbey, you may have noticed in the recent film version that one of the daughters & her Earl of Hexham husband were very briefly seen driving up the curving track below the castle. Sadly for me, not particularly a Downton follower, it was the one and only scene from Alnwick!

It was a windy day, but I managed to rest the heavy Sigma 500mm lens on the window glass of my car to get this shot from a distance and heavily cropped. I waited for some time until they crossed like this. Have a closer look how they have kept their legs.
