Walking on Schwatka Lake during a Yukon winter, while frost decorates a steel post.

I was fascinated by the juxtaposition of the decaying manmade post with the natural location and the frost. It was a happy coincidence that the walker and her dog appeared in the background to offer a kind of visual answer to the imposition of the post on the landscape.

The photo was shot handheld with the Olympus OM-D E-M1 and M.Zuiko 12-40mm f/2.8 Pro. The ice on the lake was probably more than a foot thick and covered by both snow and fog. The ambient air temperature was in the negative mid teens on the celcius scale.

The ex-Rex Greenslade Rover SD1 of Adam Brindle and Nigel Greensall dips under heavy braking at Brooklands in the HTCC/Tony Dron Trophy race, on its way to 16th overall and 1st in class.
