"Clarity comes from within" - Ruth Saw

For the Self Portrait Sunday theme Esoteric".

Mt. Shuksan at dawn. :)

before this weekend (a couple of weekends ago now), i hadn't attempted to capture the fairy duster, so i figured if i took enough, one of them would look ok. i couldn't decide, though. i like this one, along with the other two, and all for very different reasons.

the "clarity" here is how this looks in the afternoon light.

My charism, the gift given me to give to the community, is my self, ultimately; my story given back, to give me a place in the net of exchange, the web of gifts, which is Christ’s church. My self is to be given away in love, not because it is worthless, but because it is supremely precious, given to me by the hand of God as he returns my memory. Out of my story, the Spirit of the risen Jesus constitutes my present possibilities of understanding, compassion, and self-sharing. My identity as lover in the community is uniquely coloured by the loves in which I have already struggled, failed, learned, repented: they are the reason for my present love being in this “key” or “mode” rather than that, the irreducible particularity of my gift.

-Rowan Williams, Resurrection: Interpreting the Easter Gospel, 2nd ed. (Cleveland: The Pilgrim Press, 2002), 38.

In the tapestry of life, it is often the stark differences that illuminate the path to understanding and enlightenment. Just as shadows define the brilliance of light, contrasting elements in our experiences bring forth a clarity that transcends the mundane. The interplay between joy and sorrow, success and failure, love and loss creates a narrative rich in texture and meaning.

It is through these sharp distinctions that we gain a profound understanding of ourselves and the world around us. In embracing the diversity of our journey, we discover that with great contrast comes great clarity, guiding us to appreciate the beauty in both the shadows and the light, fostering growth, resilience, and a deeper connection to the essence of our existence.

Or do we just see what we want to regardless of the truth of the matter?

The calm of the mountains, the clarity of the skies

Sometimes you just need to clear your head and let the fog lift.

Like a moth to a flame.....

I set the camera up on my tripod under the (approx. 4') overhang on the back porch; based on the direction of the wind there was almost no rain coming in under it. I set up the camera with an MK Controls Lightning Bug and stepped back inside the back door and watched the light show in (relative) safety.

Amid the hustle and bustle of life, peace can be found, if you let it.

Somehow it usually seems right to slightly soften a rose, but this time I decided to push the clarity slider the other way! I rather like the result!

If you happen to look at my tags on this one, you will notice that Flickr enjoys eating beautiful roses!!!

Just a quick shot that happened while i was shopping for boots! Happened across this beautiful setup at [BREATHE] and did a little bit of PS for color and blur. Enjoy. ^_^

The amazing black beach in Iceland.

Although the thick clouds are covering most of the sky. But the sunset colour are still able to project on to the clouds. Adding some sweetness to the violence / dramatic dark clouds formation.

And just to clarify that, "Supreme Clarity" is talking about the clear lake!!! :)

Whatever beauty we behold, the more it is distant, serene, and cold, the purer and more durable it is. It is better to warm ourselves with ice than with fire.

Happy 2010 everyone!!! Bestest ever wishes to you all ♥ :)

When light catches the droplets and holds them ever so slowly.

The platform is empty here despite it being a busy station and busy time at 6.45pm. The reason is that at Bank Station the DLR (Docklands Light Railway) is a terminus. This platform is for incoming trains and there is another platform for outgoing trains. Everybody has got off the train which has come in and left the platform as the train leaves. There were no problems from the Station Assistant though zooming in a full resolution he definitely had his eyes on me. This shot was taken a couple of London trips ago on 9 March

The picture was taken handheld with a Sony A700 with a Sigma 10-20 mm lens at 13mm.. Single image processed first in RAW. Noise was reduced using Topaz DeNoise and more detail with Topaz Clarity. More Pop with Topaz Adjust. Brighness/contrast adjustment layer with a layer mask to bring down brightness in the roof lights only. Used the crop tool for better composition but also to straighten by bring the mouse to a corner and dragging to crop at an angle. Clone tool used to remove part of a seat in the bottom left corner.

Mt Hood after sunset.

Photography is all about waiting for the right time and this image justified that. We had pretty awesome light during sunset, but with Mt Hood hidden behind the cloud, the scene was much less interesting.

The light was fading fast and I was about to leave, but on a second thought, I told my self that I might better wait another while to see if I could get some luck. And, the luck was right there: Mt hood revealed herself for about 10 minutes while there was still a bit of light and I had never seen the mountain with such clarity. I hope you also enjoy this : )

Thanks for looking!

Full moon sky today. Fields of Coruche, Portugal

www.youtube.com/watch?v=K4UOo-E2Auw

..........................................................................................................................................................................

The full moon occurs when the Moon lies on the opposite side of Earth from the Sun. The moon as seen from the surface of the earth is fully illuminated by the sun at this time, presenting a "full" round disc to viewers on earth. As always, only half the total surface of the moon is illuminated.

The full moon reaches its highest elevation at midnight

A full moon is the only time when a lunar eclipse is possible; at that time the moon may move through the shadow cast by the earth. However, because of the tilt of the moon's orbit around the earth relative to the earth's orbit around the sun, the moon may pass above or below the shadow, so a lunar eclipse does not occur at every full moon.

"Blanketed by an azure sky, the orange-yellow rays of the setting sun can, at special times, gift us with a moment of such considerable beauty, we find ourselves momentarily stunned, with frozen gaze. The splendor of the moment so dazzles us, our compulsively chattering minds give pause, so as not to mentally whisk us away to a place other than the here-and-now. Bathed in luminescense, a door seems to open to another reality, always present, yet rarely witnessed"

-Russell Dicarlo (from the Power of Now foreward)

Not the most dramatic or hard earned shot of the weekend in Snowdonia, as this was taken from one of the paths up Snowden, but the pre-dawn light was sublime.

The brighter the better.

Though I've been photographing with a Hasselblad for three years now, I still am sometimes amazed by the clarity and depth of certain images.

Taken along Mt. St. Helen's Norway Pass.

To cold to go outside

We've been waiting for the sunshine and light for a month may be. Finally we got all these things. But clarity never comes without cold in the north of Russia. It's about -32 °C that day. And I do really HOPE the conditions will be more comfortable for photography soon...

I made this shot right from the water. Oh, not water, but only ice and snow. You can see the track of the snowmobile. People used the rivers as the roads for centuries. And they do so in the winters now...

Thanks for stopping by. Stay safe.

I spotted this dandelion with a nice window of clarity right into the center.

Like a foggy curtain drifting aside, a clarity began to sink into my troubled veins; the weight of sadness, confusion and longing began to wash away and were replaced with something subtle, but different. Green returned to the grass and water flowed like a sensation down my back from the collective dew dropping from the sky. It was a cold feeling, but a welcome one. I no longer had to be alone.

I liked how this reflection was a very rippled and disrupted abstract of what it would be on a still day and slower water, but somehow so much crisper than it would be as a clearer less disrupted image.

Compelled to share even if I cant quite explain it better.

I was/am tempted to rotate this 180 degrees - but that really would be messing. ....I might still do that.

My favourite band at the moment is Shonen Knife. I am so fickle - ...just hoping this phase lasts me a few more days!
