We are in the midst of a very unusual winter (so far). It's unseasonably mild with virtually no snow accumulated and the ice on the lake is still to thin for walkabout, snowmobiling, hockey, cross-country skiing and the myriad of other activities that a frozen lake affords the brave. I haven't photographed this strange state of things as yet so here is an oldie posted to tide us over while I wait for real winter to arrive (which no doubt it will - undoubtedly with a vengeance).

The open uncluttered space of a beach is almost like a spiritual experience sometimes.

Blanca is walking well. We are almost 2 months out since the last setback. She is walking briskly now and confidently and wanting to run, but I'm not letting her yet. Healing is progressing well, but we're only about halfway there.

I'm always impressed when I shoot this, the "plastic fantastic" Olympus 40-150mm F4.0-5.6 lens. It's completely overshadowed by the Pro version with a f/2.8 constant maximum aperture, but at about a tenth of the cost ($1399 vs $199), I would argue that in good lighting conditions, the "plastic fantastic" is as good (if not better if you factor in ROI) than the fixed 2.8 beast. Not to mention it's a ton lighter and a lot smaller.

Trying my hand at some minimilist images.

Morning on Derwent, with the mist drifting from the fells to the trees.

I liked this picture a lot when I took it.

Still do, but found some nono's in it.

Haha.
