I awaken trying to see things with fresh eyes. I try to see the little things, and the BIG things...I try to see what others are seeing...I try to take in all the Joy that our Maker still sets our for us to see...
So far my favorite fall in the Smoky Mountains. This place was amazing and I cannot wait to go back.
"When despair for the world grows in me
and I wake in the night at the least sound
in fear of what my life and my children's lives may be,
I go and lie down where the wood drake
rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds.
I come into the peace of wild things
who do not tax their lives with forethought
of grief. I come into the presence of still water.
And I feel above me the day-blind stars
waiting with their light. For a time
I rest in the grace of the world, and am free."

This is a shot i've been meaning to try ever since I first saw Damien Lee's fantastic image 'Blue Sky Sydney' ( www.flickr.com/photos/27356398@N03/6851159617/in/photostream ).
Initially I wanted to try this with some light clouds for a different take (still on the to do list) but I instead opted for a clear pre-dawn take instead.
Press "L" on your keyboard to view large on black and, as always, thanks for looking!

I'm a little enamoured with this right now...

The town of Bolkhov, Oryol Region, Russia
In the photo there can be seen a fragment of the Church of the Nativity (near 1650 - 1680), that is likely to be the most ancient stone edifice at the town. The church plays the role of local cathedral and contains some precious revered Orthodox icons and relics.
The water in these lakes is amazingly clear, as this fallen tree shows. It was a beautiful first evening in the park. After a 10 hr. drive from Rapid City, S. Dakota to get here, I needed this.
