(Las Vegas)

Rightly known as the City of Lights, it has a dazzling array of luxurious casinos, mega-hotels, and plush resorts. Buzzing bars and live shows ensures the fun never stops after sunset. Once done with gambling and stage performance, you can enjoy a round of fun and adrenaline in the city's many theme parks.

The Bellagio fountains looked amazing from the top of the Eiffel Tower in Las Vegas!

Another crazy place in Cyberpunk city. Wherever you go, you will find light.

The Louvre is an amazing, breathtaking, and, if you’re not careful, exhausting museum. I recommend hitting the highlights or periods that most interest you. Don't try to see everything because it's just not possible. The Louvre is a definite must-see while visiting Paris, unless you absolutely hate famous art and sculpture.

Since today is my birthday and I don't get to share on Flickr as much as I would like, I thought no better day than to share my favorite photo of 2014. Enjoy. Happy Bday to me!! :)

I had a conversation with a French friend of mine a few days ago. He told me, "Paris is magic," and I could not agree more with that statement. The view from the top floor of Tour Montparnasse was breathtaking. The City of Lights lit up beautifully as the sun went down. I wish I could have stayed there and stared out at the beautiful city for hours more.

Summer 2017

Yesterday proved to be a test in staying dry as an endless stream of water poured from the sky making street travel block by block rather interesting as we had to run for the nearest shelter over and over. BUT, the skies did eventually clear to make for a marvelous day of wandering. And of course, drying off.

Using warp drive from it's powerful anti-matter engine, the Hullbull Remote Space Telescope has rapidly approached the distant City of Light, Metropolis 1, to capture images from the incredible light show heralding the opening of the light city, some thousand light years distant. Here, one of the first images from the mission shows the first stages of a powerful series of explosions where matter was created by use of an advanced dimensional oscillator, similar to a miniature and controlled "Big Bang". Stellar fireworks, if you will. This is from the start of the light show which was produced a safe distance from Metropolis 1, several astronomical units, but yet close enough for the residents to see it develop in real time. The scale of the light show as viewed from Metropolis 1 would be similar to about 20 times the size of the full moon in our own sky. Additional images from the light show will be posted as more data are received from the Hullbull Telescope.

It starts tomorrow and goes for 3 weeks...every night. So we are going to see many great images. I hope you like mine taken last year :-)

This extraordinary spectrum of lights and lasers was radiating from roof tops, the river and bridges and was set against dramatic musical scores. It was the first laser light show of its kind in Australia. Yayyyy aren't we priviledged in Brisbane :-)

Santos GLNG City of Lights is back this year to illuminate Brisbane in a new light, laser and special effects show presented nightly over the three weeks of the Festival this month.

Towering structures, lasers, searchlights and cascading water will wow spectators at South Bank’s Cultural Forecourt, home to Santos GLNG Lounge and the best seats to view the show in all its glory.

The artistic masterminds behind Santos GLNG City of Lights include creative director Tony Assness and internationally acclaimed lighting designer John Rayment.

Don't Wait for the perfect moment , Take a moment and make it perfect.

A shot from my honeymoon, 2007. My wife and I decided to climb the stairs to the second level of the Eiffel Tower, and thought it'd be amazing to do this at sunset. I've never seen a sunset as beautiful! Taken with my faithful point n shoot.

Well, think I'm gonna take another mental journey. When ever I get a little stir crazy and dream of far off places, for some reason, I mentally head to Paris. Its a great place to home base a European trip. City of lights.....a magical place. This week, I think I'm gonna post a few images that are from a 2007 trip that I reprocessed a little bit.

Enjoy!

This is the Benedictine Abbey of Saint-Germain-des-Prés, just beyond the outskirts of early medieval Paris. At that time, the Left Bank of Paris was prone to flooding from the Seine, so much of the land could not be built upon and the Abbey stood in the middle of fields, or prés in French, thereby explaining its appellation.

What once was, for a time. A black and white shot of the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris a couple years before the fire. Not too long from now it'll look like this again. Hopefully for another 800 years.

Palace Garnier - Boulevard Haussman - Paris, France.

The newly-restored golden weather vane stands prominently alongside the colorful cupolas of one of Paris' favorite department stores. Above Boulevard Haussmann, and away from the mad shopping crowd, is sometimes the best way to enjoy the City of Lights.

Las Vegas, there's a dark cloud hanging over your pristinely kept city. I felt it. It was not welcoming.

Will I visit again? Who knows. Is it top of the list? Not really.

In two days I will be in Paris. I can't wait to visit the original City of Lights and see the tower that inspired so many clones.

Let your love light shine bright.

It must have been the light that binds people holding hands.

Jardin de Tuileries - Paris

Eiffel tower, the jewel of the Parisian city. If you stumbled upon this while visiting the romantic city, it surely is a wakeup call to make you realize you are indeed in Paris.

To some it is breathtaking and to some others, it is just an eye sore…a lump of cast iron structure in the middle of the city, and at one time the Parisians wanted it torn down. They feared that this huge object would not fit into the architecture of the city. But a few decades later after it was built, it is now one of the world’s top landmark, a cultural icon and one of the most recognizable structures in the world. One could probably say, you couldn’t possibly visit Paris without seeing this magnificent architecture which also serves as a radio tower.

From afar it looked like a radio control tower, and as it got nearer it became majestic and looked pretty impressive but once you get to the location, it is crowded. Better be the early birds so that you won;t waste your time queuing up. As the hours of the day increase, the line of people waiting to buy tickets and board the elevator snaked along slowly. But it is worth the wait once you get to the top as you can see all of Paris and you can stay as long as you want up there, as long as you can stand the chilly strong winds.

Just a couple of fun facts. ‘La Tour Eiffel’ got its name after the engineer Gustave Eiffel. His company was the one responsible for the design and the construction of the tower. The tower has three levels which are accessible for visitor. You can opt to just go to the second level for a cut-down price. And if you have the strength you can also opt to ascend the stairs, but only up to the second level. The tower is 324 meters tall and was once the tallest building in the world from 1889 to 1930.

This is one of my wife's favorite photos from our honeymoon in Paris this past February (2006). I took this while we were strolling around the streets one evening, enjoying the beauty of Paris.

Yet more photos of La Tour Eiffel :p

* a pre-B&W smth for my coming B&W week

Please enjoy.
