The Sphere in Las Vegas is a concert venue and one of the world's largest spherical buildings! it’s become the world’s largest spherical structure at 516 feet wide and 366 feet tall. Meanwhile, the seating bowl’s 160,000-square-foot spherical LED “immersive surface” lights up at full 16K resolution, making it the highest-resolution LED screen on Earth.
Taken in the middle of the night!
This extraordinary spectrum of lights and lasers was radiating from roof tops, the river and bridges and was set against dramatic musical scores. It was the first laser light show of its kind in Australia. Yayyyy aren't we priviledged in Brisbane :-)
Santos GLNG City of Lights is back this year to illuminate Brisbane in a new light, laser and special effects show presented nightly over the three weeks of the Festival in September.
Towering structures, lasers, searchlights and cascading water will wow spectators at South Bank’s Cultural Forecourt, home to Santos GLNG Lounge and the best seats to view the show in all its glory.
The artistic masterminds behind Santos GLNG City of Lights include creative director Tony Assness and internationally acclaimed lighting designer John Rayment.

Carlisle Castle pictured during the amazing City of Lights show which saw many of the city’s historic landmarks illuminated with lasers and projections for 3 consecutive nights. I waited until just before the show finished at 10pm and managed to get a clear viewpoint on Irish Gate Bridge, which I had visited only a couple of hours earlier and was packed with people. I really liked this composition with the curve of the bridge leading into the scene, with the busy dual carriageway of Castle Way below. Although the display was very colourful, I actually decided to convert my image to monochrome as I felt it highlighted the contrasts and added further drama and atmosphere.

Immerse yourself in a fantastic sound and light experience and be transported through time from the present day to Roman times in Luguvalium – Carlisle.
Explore illuminated landmarks throughout the city and enjoy immersive sound and light experiences at Carlisle Cathedral, Tullie House Museum and Art Gallery Gardens and Carlisle Castle.
This one was taken on my recent trip to Paris, France. Eiffel tower is really beautiful at night, it seems like it lights up the entire city! :)
In the City of Light there is no centre nor suburbs because all is important, everything & everyone are interconnected by the Light.

In a break from the painful (for me) process of editing and up-loading photos for my new Album "Anteprima Design Week" where many more pictures are yet to come, I've done this work using four of my photos taken at Euroluce 2023: 3 photos of special glass neon tubes displayed all over from the ceiling to two meters above from the flooring of a peculiar dark hall (exhibitor "Preciosa") and 1 photo of golden pepitas.
It was a while I was missing to do new Planispheric Art and this here has indeed been inspired by my awesome visit at the Salone del Mobile. No need to say I had fun to digitally paint over in my freehand style.

Milano Design Week - EuroLuce 2023
Again Bohemian crystal for this amazing dynamic lighting installation, covering a surface of more than 100sqm.
It's the so called "Crystal Grid" by the Czechoslovakian Company PRECIOSA, an imponent stucture of crystal neon tubes displayed from the ceiling and suspended until around two meters from the floor, almost touching the heads of the visitors, invited to this show in a sort of wide black box like in a cinema. The crystal tubes had an intense vibrant half golden and half optical white light. This structure merged a sounding system, called "Crystal Beat" interacting with rhythmic light pulsations and musical notes that the visitors could play in total freedom.
The fusion between lights and sound has produced awesome instants of pure magic.

At a first glance, the camera obturator would have been totally blinded by the extreme light, so I went for a rather fast exposure with closure priority and had to edit the photo quite a lot to obtain what the eyes could actually not totally see: the true colour was golden, not white as it could appear, and the neon tubes in crystal, apparently white shiny and with a smooth surface, were instead mostly embossed and worked out with gold, probably to give a warmer light effect, while the studs connecting the neon lights, appearing at our eyes in a chromed tone, were, instead, all in brass.
Most of the photos I've seen online, much better than mine, don't however show the heavily worked surface of the crystal tubes, embossed and decorated with gold, so, I'm rather satisfied with mine.
A really luxury installation that lent strong visual and auditive emotions.
More photos of my reportage at the Milano Design Week in the next days and weeks.

Louvre is one of the world's largest museum and also a well-known landmark of Paris. Located on the right bank of the Seine, this world class museum is a former royal palace and was the actual seat of power in France before Louis XIV decided to move his political powers to Palace of Versailles. Nonetheless he still uses Louvre as a place to store his private art collection. So that is how the Louvre began to becoming a world class museum
Known locally as Musee du Louvre, it houses the most renowned painting - the Mona Lisa, and masterpieces like the Winged Victory of Samothrace and Venus de Milo, and more than 380000 objects as well as 35000 works of art. The place is so enormous that you need a game plan when you visit. You could spend days there if you were to look and digest each artwork and exhibition thoroughly. Go early to avoid long queues at the ticketing counter. If you are into art and history, make it a long trip as you will not be disappointed. But if you plan just for a short visit, I would recommend going straight to the 1st floor of the Denon wing. There, you can see masterpieces by da Vinci including the Mona Lisa, multiple works of Raphael and other huge paintings from the 17th Century Upwards. Other exhibitions and items that are interesting to see is the Napoleon apartment. You will certainly be impressed with its splendor and it is a definite must for any visitor.
Day 42 - February 11, 2010
Paris is my most favorite city in the entire world.
I was there a few years back but got sick on the second day and wasn't able to do much touring after that. But I will be back one day. Back to enjoy the lights, the architecture, the fusion of old and new, and of course the romantic atmosphere.
If I could fly to Paris tonight and be there tomorrow I would. But since I can't, let me take you there with my imagination. All we need is my camera, a Paris souvenir, and the view from my porch.
Best seen Large On Black.

View over central Chongqing with the Yangtze River winding through the city. Taken on a cloudy afternoon from one of the temples around the city.
With 32 million citizens and it being one of the most touristic cities for Chinese citizens, many beautiful sites of Chongqing pull a very large crowd. This river beach had thousands of visitors each day and many payed photographers ready to take your portrait shots.
Milano Design Week - Euroluce 2023
Among the exhibitions and events encompassed under the name "The City of Light", the fair Euroluce has offered an Exhibition dedicated to creative works made with or inspired by the light bulbs, called "Fiat Bulb - La Sindrome di Edison".
In a portion of a pavillion, it has been re-created a section of an imaginary airport, a baggage reclaim area with carousel and conveyor belt where many boxes containing works by artists and designers inspired by the bulb light and bulb structure have been exhibited.
Instead of passengers, here visitors have been called to turn around the carousel and watch every single work on show.
I believe this show has also been a "memory" tribute to the primary incandescent lights and the warm illumination they produce.
Here, a view from outside the show, where the watery effect is obtained by the transparent curtains made of windproof pvc slats.
(In the next photo, 2 creations I particularly liked).
