This is where my story begins... well, a few more blocks down from where you see. This past week, I spent my time traveling for work to the nice city of Toronto. On Saturday night, after hosting my dear family for a tour of my work place, I caught the red eye out of SFO to Toronto. As if red eyes weren't horrible enough, we got delayed getting into Toronto (about an hour). Why this is critical? Well, as I catch the cab from the airport into Toronto, we sit in traffic. Mind you, it's 7am on a Sunday. WHO is out at this hour???
Well, it turns out, thousands! For what??? The Toronto marathon!! About forty minutes into the ride, I'm still not to the hotel. It's dark and rainy. I notice that all the downtown exits are closed and there's a blinking sign that says a marathon us going on! And the roads are closed from 6am to 2pm!!!
Oh dear, the story gets better. As all cab drivers do, they try their best to weave in and out of the alleys, but today is no day even for the best drivers. The main road, Queens Avenue is completely closed for the running of the marathon. It just so happens that my hotel is on that street. 123 Queens Avenue West to be exact.
Well, the closest he can get me is (according to him) two blocks away. He apologizes profusely about not being able to get any closer. So there's a consistent stream of rain falling from the sky and it's a tad foggy. He takes out my roller bag, laptop backpack from the trunk and I grab my purse. I have no umbrella... and I start making my way through the steady rain and the parade of marathon runners with their proud bibs. I end up on the marathon route because that's where my hotel is. A mountie informs me that I'm not supposed to be on the route and that I need to turn back. I exclaim "My hotel is just down the street." and proceed to walk hoping that my continued movement will dissuade him from doing anything drastic. After all, I'm not trying to crash the marathon. (On a side note, I now know how it feels to be a salmon swimming up river. The rain definitely provided adequate simulation.) I keep telling myself it's just two blocks... but we all know how that goes! (Two days later, we actually walked 2 blocks to a networking event and I definitely walked farther in the rain. The colleagues I walked with all started laughing when I pointed out where the cab driver dropped me off.)
I get into the hotel - I'm sure - looking like a wet dog. Everything is dripping wet - my hair, my poor coat and my purse. I put the dripping purse on the check-in counter. Meanwhile, my glasses have decided to fog up with the temperature difference with water streaming down them. I have nothing with which to dry them so I do my best to shake the water off. The hotel staffer, without looking up says, "How was your trip in, eh?" I can't make this stuff up... I think I just start laughing. As he looks up, he says, "I guess it's raining out. Checking in?" YES! The nice thing is that the staffer upgraded me to a suite with this view. Needless to say, I was in dire need of a HOT shower!
The rest of the week? Well, as they say - it can only go up from here!

(จะว่าไปถ้าผมไม่ได้ถ่ายภาพไปใช้งาน ซึ่งจะมีน๊อยซ์ไม่ได้นี่ ISO1000 กับกล้องสมัยนี้นี่สบายๆ เลย คุณภาพรับได้)
ขณะที่กำลังเครียดกับการถ่ายอยู่นั้น มีชายวัยกลางคน น่าจะเป็นชาวญี่ปุ่น เดินมายืนข้างๆ ผม อุปกรณ์ที่ติดตัวพี่แกมานั้นยังกะจะไปออกรบ ขาตั้งกล้องสองขา (แม่เจ้า!! ในใจคิด มรึงจะแบกมาทำไม เค้าไม่ให้ใช้ ฟายยย) ทันใดนั้นพี่แกก็ทำการตั้งขาตั้งพร้อมกับกล้องตัวเขื่องจนเสร็จ แล้วก็ระดมถ่ายใหญ่ (ในใจคิด เด๋วเค้าก็มาไล่ หุหุ) สักพักใหญ่ ตามคาด มีเจ้าหน้าที่เดินเข้ามาหาพี่แก แล้วก็พูดพร้อมทำมือทำไม้ ให้เข้าใจได้ว่า ห้ามใช้ขาตั้งนะครับ พี่แกก็พยักหน้าแล้วทำมือบอกว่า อ่อ รู้แล้วครับ ขออีกดอก โอเคๆ ประมาณนี้ แล้วเจ้าหน้าที่ก็เดินกลับไป แต่พี่แกก็ถ่ายต่อไปอีกไม่เห็นจะเก็บ (เนียนนะมรึง แสรด ในใจคิด)
เวลาผ่านไปก็นานอยู่นะ พี่แกก็ถ่ายได้ไปเรื่อยๆ ผมก็อดสงสัยว่าทำไมเจ้าหน้าที่เค้าไม่ว่าแว้ สิ้นความคิดในหัวได้ไม่นาน เจ้าหน้าที่ก็เดินมาพูดกับพี่แกอีก เหมือนเคย คือห้ามใช้ขาตั้งนะครับ พี่แกก็ครับๆ โอเคๆ และก็เหมือนฉายหนังวน พี่แกก็เนียนถ่ายไปอีก คือ นานมาก นานจนผมเลิกถ่าย ในใจคิด แค้นใจนัก กรูไม่น่าทิ้งขาตั้งไว้ข้างล่างเล้ยยยย แสรดดดด 😢

The City Palace was built in 1793 A.D. by Raja Bakhtawar Singh. It represents a intermingling of Rajput and Mughal stvles. It has graceful marble pavilions set on lotus flower bases in the central courtyard Once this palace was part of the Maharajas ornate lifestyle and housed, among other things, a drinking cup cut out of a single emerald in its treasury and a mammoth, double storied four-elephant carriage in its stables. Today however the palaces has been converted into the district's collectorate, and its hall and chambers have a been turned into government offices.
