The view of New York City (NYC), 42nd Street filled with spectators, Bank of America, Times Square, New York Times Building, Empire State Building (ESB), New Yorker Hotel, One Penn Plaza, and the aftermath of the fireworks viewed from Weehawken, New Jersey after the Macy's Fourth of July Fireworks 2011 in New York City over the Hudson River.

Looking East across the Hudson River with New York City Police Boats (blue streak of light on the city shoreline), two of the Macy's fireworks barges, and various other boat traffic showed up rather nicely in this image.

I am planning btw to start to tweet on my twitter account photo ops in NYC and surrounding area within 24 hours (of the event) and a link to a map for each. As for TurtleSnapper I plan to add some tutorials as well as in-depth discussion of some lesser known locations to shoot from in New York City and how to access them (along with images of course).

Earth is at aphelion today, which is the point in its orbit where it is the greatest distance from the sun (and therefore the day on thich the sun appears smallest in the sky). This also coincides with the time of year where the sun rises behind the city buildings as seen from Green Hill Reservoir. So with clear skies forecast, I headed to the reservoir this morning just at the start of astronomical twilight to get some images of the city, and then I took a series of images (about every 3 minutes) through a solar filter as the sun rose. Stacking all these together resulted in this image.
