In questa terra meravigliosa, i colori di sabbia, lava e mare sembrano gareggiare per un continuo sfidarsi in una gara di bellezza

Had some fun with the photo editor. Love how it really highlights the different parts of the leaf.

A simple, powerful dialogue of color on a quiet street. The vibrant yellow of a tree and a pool of its own fallen leaves speaks in warm tones against the cool, silent whisper of the blue hour.

Time Slice of the San Diego Skyline taken from the shores of Centennial Park Coronado. This is a time lapse compilation of 25 photographs taken 5 minutes apart for a duration of 2 hours. Created on a MacBook Pro using Lightroom, Photoshop, and Calculator.

what you are observing is a detail of a really famous Modigliani that I have the joy to see every day (obviously a copy even if well handmade)

First experimentation with a Denis Smith made Chromalight (clear). www.denissmith.com.au/-chromalight/ This image has a refractography style look - I’ll coin the light painting speciality of “fauxrefractotublading”. Connected via 2 LPB Universal Connectors to a Concentrate C5 on custom white/cyan fade mode. f/5.6, 8secs, ISO800. Post processed from RAW exposure in Adobe Lightroom 6.

I shot this small cityscape panoramic in Bangkok. I wanted to transcribe the dark luminescent mood of the city at night, so I found this place and set up my tripod. Hope you enjoyed my image!

This is a compilation of photographs taken during a 2 hour time lapse. The best colors came out of the sky during a short moment when the sun was near the horizon. To capture these color shifts I decreased the interval between shots. Once again I had a bit of trigger finger!

Processing

Lightroom: Lens profile correction, chromatic aberration correction, luminance +37.

Photoshop: Cropped to 16x9, luminosity masks used to improve contrast and hue, capture sharpening and output sharpening at 2048px longest edge.

This multi-colored tree caught my eye on this rainy morning.

Event begins on August the 15th!

This was, to me, the prettiest spring I saw while at Yellowstone - one of dozens on the boardwalk in the area around Old Faithful. I was there the same weekend another photographer crashed his drone into Prismatic Spring, another landmark, but I was happy to get this shot the old fashioned way, with a high tech digital camera positioned on a graphite legged tripod triggered by an electronic shutter release during extreme lowlight conditions. Just like Ansel.

Upper Geyser Basin, Yellowstone National Park.

A scene from a brisk November dawn at Kirby Cove. The color was prominent in the sky well before sunrise.

old and new reed on the banks of the lower Loire river. The vast reed fields on the last 60 km between Nantes and the ocean leave only few points of direct access to the river, like here close to the powerstation of Cordemais.

A brilliant ending to a great day near La Jolla. Even though this image was captured a few minutes after the sun set below the horizon, if you look closely you can see a sun pillar reflecting off the clouds.

Walking the bay shoreline I came across this bicycle in the surf. Someone had thrown it off the cliff to get rid of it. The next morning before the coffee, I returned, took my shoes off and set the bike up in the surf with the idea of getting some HDR images. Only one problem, the waves kept knocking the bike over. After a few tries it settled in the sand and held for several HDR image sets. This was my favorite.

Those of you that know me, you know I like to visually explore images at larger sizes to find the treasures within the image. Here is one I would like to showcase what I mean. Below in comments is the original image. I did very little editing other then pull what detail I could in the highlights and do some fill in the shadows. Other than that this is just out of the camera. I love the very subtle shades of colors and the shapes and line is captivating. There is is some chromatic aberration as well.

Go ahead and view it even larger.

Port Willunga

South Australia

As a reward for finishing off a presentation yesterday, I got myself out for a shoot down at the familiar surroundings of Port Willunga - or so I thought. As I arrived, I noticed the seas really roaring and pounding away - the tide was higher than I had ever seen it. Usually I can walk out to those posts but today I would have been completely under water had I done so. Instead, I opted to test out the 135mm F2 which I just obtained last week. I am very impressed with the sharpness and lack of any chromatic aberration. This will definitely become a bit of a go to portrait lens I think.

There were 3 other photographers down there - I'm not sure if it's anyone from here on flickr but hi if I saw you! We 4 would have witnessed something that doesn't happen too often I would think.

Taken in the Bo-Kaap district of Cape Town. The walls are really that colour. In fact I turned down the brightness and saturation in LR for this shot.

The area is very well known, but the residents can rightly be a bit prickly about being blankly photographed as though they are in some kind of zoo. I wanted the shots I took to express some of the place's humanity and normality without intruding, or snooping. Still working on it.
