First chance to get out for a photo ride/walk in a loooooooong [censored by Flickr] time -- I always try to at least push myself out on my b-day.

Right. Redscale 100 run first through the Lomo Fisheye (that me bro gave me as a present for b-day 2k7), and the Canon Sure Shot ($1 thrift store find =). The glorious chaos of random composition! Thank you for stopping by. Hope your week's going well. Prost. ^_^

Chaos tamed into silk (for your viewing pleasure)

There would definitely be chaos in the skies if it weren't for our air traffic controllers.

Air traffic controllers are personnel responsible for the safe, orderly, and expeditious flow of air traffic in the global air traffic control system. Usually stationed in air traffic control centers and control towers on the ground, they monitor the position, speed, and altitude of aircraft in their assigned airspace visually and by radar, and give directions to the pilots by radio. The position of air traffic controller is one that requires highly specialized knowledge, skills, and abilities. Controllers apply separation rules to keep aircraft at a safe distance from each other in their area of responsibility and move all aircraft safely and efficiently through their assigned sector of airspace, as well as on the ground. Because controllers have an incredibly large responsibility while on duty (often in aviation, "on position") and make countless real-time decisions on a daily basis, the ATC profession is consistently regarded around the world as one of the most mentally challenging careers, and can be notoriously stressful depending on many variables (equipment, configurations, weather, traffic volume, human factors, etc.). Many controllers, however, would cite high salaries, and a very large, unique, and privileged degree of autonomy as major advantages of their jobs. Source: Wikipedia

"There are approximately 15,000 federal air traffic controllers on the job every day at 315 FAA air traffic facilities around the country, managing more than 87,000 daily flights across U.S. airspace." Source: Everett Potter, Special for USA TODAY Dec. 8, 2014

To the women and men of the FAA, thank you for your service.

Chaos

I decided to create a little colorful chaos today!

Chaos - irregular, lacking pattern, disturbed, confused, unpredictable - my hair in the morning. This self-portrait is for the Daily Challenge on "chaos." Handheld 60 mm with flash help. SilverEfex Pro for the processing. It amazes me what makes it to Explore...

Chaos, nonlinear dynamics, emergence, self-organization, complexity, strange attractors, time series, fractals, randomness, pink noise, power laws, tipping points, the butterfly effect... these are a few of my favorite things!

I wandered by the skating rink at city hall and took this photo last friday.

I liked the group standing in the middle while the chaos of a hundred skaters circles around them.. This is taken in infrared, but its not noticeably infrared. Since there isn't much sun these days I've been experimenting with new ways to use my infrared-only modified D100.

The Dawi Zharr, or Chaos Dwarves, are the evil cousins to the noble dwarves. They thrive in greed, tyranny, and fire.

This guy was inspired by artwork from several Warhammer sources.

Helmet: Lego gentleman’s top hat with greenstuff addons.

Axe: modified Crescent Axe from @brickwarriors

Shield and beard: all hand sculpted

Armor; Koruit dwarf armor with some kitbashed bits.

You were expecting something racey? Sorry, this is a family group! Photo taken for Our Daily Challenge: Chaos. I vowed to do this challenge with only one shot.

Explore 10 January 2011, highest #164.

Here's how I did it: I crumpled my trusty white blanket and took my one shot. I used no special lighting. There are two lamps in the room, a floor lamp to the left and a bed lamp to the rear and left. The shot was taken hand held on auto focus and macro setting. See SOOC below. The set-up and shoot took less than a minute. The post-processing took a bit longer! I then converted it to gray scale and adjusted the contrast. See B&W below. I resisted the temptation to crop. Finally I converted it to negative and did some more adjustment to contrast and brightness. Photo was taken with a Panasonic DMC-FZ18. Processing was done with the PHOTOfunSTUDIO software that came with the camera. Sometimes the camera information gets lost in the processing.

CHAOS THE SEXY DEMON

SHE LOOKS AWESOME

Total Chaos in The Netherlands today. It is caused by one of the heaviest storms ever through out the entire country. The wind varies from windforce 9 to 11 with gusts ranging from 100 km/h to 130 km/h (60 to 80 mph).

3 People already died, Schiphol Airport has only 1 airstrip open, 5 main highways are closed and at the moment no train traffic at all is possible. Buildings collapsed underneath fallen trees and many many people are stranded at railway stations.

Dutch National TV is constantly broadcasting 'breaking news' about this emergency situation and people are advised not to go outside.

OK, I gotta do some groceries shopping now.
