The employee at the hardware store shot me a side glance when she found me reaching into a trash can with my iPhone to capture this shot. For a few strange moments I might as well have been at the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) in New York City or any modernist gallery but I was in the paint department of Goody's Hardware in East Haven, Connecticut. That's right, the entire black plastic trash can was empty but lined with splattered paint in mostly red, yellow, ochre and white. It was a remarkable find ala Jackson Pollock, a fine example of accidental modernist art. Voila!
This is a view looking straight down into the trash can. The photo I uploaded yesterday shows one interior side of the same trash can.
Can you guess what it is?

Moraine Lake is a place I just cannot get enough of! I have not posted so many photos of the same location within such a short timeframe before, but this spot deserves the extra attention. The beautiful blue waters set it apart as one of the prettiest lakes in the world for sure. The only sad part is that it has gotten extremely overcrowded and it is very difficult to access. However, even with that being said, it is still worth visiting. I am very thankful to have had the opportunity to see it in person!

About the series
I was in Berlin for a few days and of course I wanted to shoot some Photos. My normal Camera was a little too big and unhandy for my business-trip and so I gave a Chance to my smartphone (Xiaomi Redmi Note 11) and a free B&W-App called “Hypocam”. I would like to share a few impressions, but it will not be a detailed test of the smartphone-camera or the software. For me it was more about the question: can my Smartphone compete with my normal Camera? And can I create a nice & appealing b&w-Series with this equipment?
I will try to answer it primarily by showing the final results and I want to add only a little Text to every Photo. I hope you like the photos and if you want to leave a comment: What experiences have you had so far? Can a smartphone compete with or even replace expensive equipment in some situations?
Yet I still do. As far as Chicago winters go, it's been a mild one. Nowhere near the amount of snow we usually see, and there are more 40 and 50 degree days than I can remember in the past. But we had some snow and a temperature drop this weekend, and it's almost like we've never had snow before. So I mutter under my breath and say "Why do I still live here?"
Then I drop off breakfast under the tracks. You can see Hillbilly's place (between the two pillars on the left. I've seen as many as three people in there at once, and I have a closet bigger than that in my apartment. That's when I say, "Note to self - stop complaining."
