You can thank Eric Gofreed for this photograph. I recently visited him, and he and his wife were wonderful and gracious hosts. Eric is among the best bird photographers anywhere and it was great experience learning new techniques and a great time visiting. The set up on this photo is all his doing. All I did was show up with my camera and shoot. This is a rather lucky shot to have the tongue out a little. Thanks again Eric for a great visit. Sedona, Arizona, June 2019

Looking forward to a trip to Carolina Motorsports Park in my Datsun 280z soon as I was unable to go to the first race of the year there. Seen from a prior race, one of my competitors has chosen a different line that the rest of us.

The purity of a waterfall. A sign of light, poetry and hope, against darkness.
Which in its own way symbolizes the desire, now perhaps utopian, of an Italy that will hopefully soon emerge from the medieval nightmare in which the current government has made it sink.

What can I say about this place. So many mixed feelings and emotions. Advertised as an exotic destination to drink cocktails, smoke cigars, and drive around in classic cars, but once there the "conscious" visitor can quickly realize the crippling pressure that this country (and mainly its people) is under. Shot in Havana.
I can't believe that, for thefirst time in nine years, I forgot to post an image this morning. I remembered to comment, so I still want credit (like when I handed in a paper just before the deadline).
I love the Black Phoebes. Their behavior is that of other flycatchers, leaving their perches to catch a fly on the wing, and then returning to thevery sameperch. How could a photographer not love them! Focus on the perch, and wait until it returns.
The black phoebe (Sayornis nigricans) is a passerine bird in the tyrant-flycatcher family. It breeds from southwest Oregon and California south through Central and South America. It occurs year-round throughout most of its range and migrates less than the other birds in its genus, though its northern populations are partially migratory. Six subspecies are commonly recognized, although two are occasionally combined as a separate species, the white-winged phoebe.
The black phoebe has predominantly black plumage, with a white belly and undertail coverts. The sexes are identical in color, and juveniles have brown feather tips and brown wing-bars. Its song is a repeated tee-hee, tee ho. It lives in a variety of habitats but is always near water. It is mainly insectivorous and waits on a perch before sallying out and catching its prey in the air. It makes an open cup nest which is placed under a cliff or a bridge and cemented in its place with mud.
Can't keep the babies from playing all the time! Mama is the one looking at me, with the notch in her ear.

I kicked a can on my walk in the park today (always off the paths) and it was a beer can with a beer can printed on it. I just like it.
Pet snail playing with favourite toy
Not really my pet, I found it under a bag in the garden when I was about to fill it with the fig leaves
If there is one thing that that I prefer over all else, it would be music. Is there anything else that can take you back in time and thirty years later you can still remember how you felt the first time you heard a lyric or chord progression.
Since there is a deposit on cans, many people search the trash cans for empty cans.
In order to earn some extra money that way.

The sound studio where our percussion group practices prides itself in keeping a healthy stock of international and regional artisan beers. The cans on display here had just arrived from the province of Zeeland.
