Glossy Ibis- Plegadis Falcinellus
Flocks of Glossy Ibis forage quite close together, advancing slowly as they probe a muddy area. This activity often attracts Snowy Egrets and other species of waders, which capture minnows and other prey moving away from the feeding ibis flocks.
Glossy Ibises nest in colonies, often among other species of ibis, heron, egret, or spoonbill. Colonial nesters have the advantage of many extra sets of eyes looking out for predators. Colonies might also be places where highly gregarious species like ibises can share information about the most productive foraging areas.
Glossy Ibis is a cosmopolitan species, also found in Europe, Asia, and Africa. In recent decades, its population in Spain has been increasing rapidly, probably helped by increased rice cultivation there. Glossy Ibises banded in Spain have turned up as far away as Barbados, having crossed the Atlantic—a remarkable feat but one that several species of heron and egret have managed as well.
The oldest recorded Glossy Ibis was at least 21 years old and lived in Virginia between 1971 and 1992.

I don't have to take a trip around the world or be on a yacht in the Mediterranean to have happiness. I can find it in the little things, like looking out into my backyard and seeing deer in the fields.

.....but you can't hide.
Was sat on a bench in the garden trying to catch a bird near one of the feeders when I heard the crows wings flap low overhead and settle in the old apple tree near me. I scanned and scanned through my 20x magnifier on the LCD but couldn't find him, despite the dark and light contrast, I was about to give up when I passed over him as he moved and I picked up the movement not the shape. Gotcha! :^)
While I can't be without the 20x, the one problem with it is that it reduces the visible area on the LCD drastically, perhaps down to 5%, so on a large zoom tis a bit needle and haystackish with Mr Magoo looking for the needle. Fortunately, he moved as I passed over him otherwise, even at that size I would have missed him.
I covered these cans with air drying clay. Before I colored the clay with food color (nothing else was at home). After drying, I embellished them with gold foil (metal, not real gold:-)). Finish was a matt clear coat.

It's not so pronounced but here one can see a bit of that famous defect which this lens is known for. What do you think Simon : ) ?

What can be the reason behind flower favourites? (They fit your photographic style? Childhood memories? Fragrance? Perfect material in which to project your self?) These remain a favourite for me, Spring or Fall.
Chinese Gardens at the Botanical Gardens are beautiful, full of colorful flowers, pavilions, ponds and waterfalls. Well worth a visit.
After spending quite a few wonderful minutes in this dramatic landscape getting beautiful sunrise shots, I couldn't resist walking down the slopes to catch the sunlight through the holes in the pinnacles.

I can't stop allowing myself to go back to Smithville to capture this tree. I love to photograph it in all the seasons and one important thing I have learned is to never take it for granted. I had a very special tree in the Smithville Lake area that was taken down without notice and I regret not photographing it more. I guess this can apply to many things in life (family, friends, etc). So here I am, early in the morning mesmerized by the shape of the extended branches along the country fence line and the glow of the sky. I ended up blurring out the grass to give the sole focus on the this magnificent living specimen. I am just awed by the shapes here as if it were drawn on the page.
