My first attempt at this Macro Mondays thing, is a detail from a Philips living light remote control. HMM everyone!

Button from a World War Two Australian Army uniform

Subject

The subject is a child's hair bow, constructed of loops of ribbon.

It was shot for simultaneous entry into Macro Monday's "Buttons and Bows" theme and for Weekly Theme Challenge's "Loops" theme.

Lens

SMC Pentax-DA L 18-55mm F3.5-5.6 AL WR. It's the kit wide-angle zoom. It's on a pair of stacked teleconverters in order to achieve 1:1 macro: a Vivitar 2x and a Sigma 1.4x AF. Both carry the aperture information back to the body.

Because of the stacked teleconverters, the focal-length data is lost. The EXIF entry for focal-length is based on the options set on the camera and does not reflect the adjusted focal-length of the lens. The actual focal length was 154mm.

Lighting

One Pentax AF540FGZ strobe is connected using one of my DIY cable extenders. It is to the left on a simple stand, only a few degrees out of line with the camera. It is aimed up slightly from the horizontal. A cleaned out yogurt cup acts as a diffuser.

See the first comment for an image of the setup.

Macro Mondays theme´s of the week is "Buttons and Bows", I used this button over my little Jack while she's having a nap.

Better on L.

A different take on the buttons and bows theme for Macro Mondays. The neon rendition was not posted in the group but I had fun creating it.

The beautiful button wearers— with their frills, flowers, bows, rings and things — have all moved on.

A bow in B&W. This bow happened to be on a present sitting under the Christmas Tree. The texture seemed interesting enough to warrant a colorless Christmas shot. HMM!

The decorations are up, a bow on top of a sparkly box.

Shutter button and bow. This archer with his long bow could be a mascot permanently attached to my Zenit 12 XP camera and Helios 44-2! Taken with a DA35 Macro lens.

J'ai trouvé des boutons sur lesquels figurait ces arrêtes de poissons. Fixés sur les yeux à l'aide de gomme fixe je trouvait que le portrait de mon chat en peluche pouvait convenir à la commande Macro Mondays du jour;)

So embarrassingly in a house of 3 females-including 2 teanagers; I have the item of clothing with the shiniest button. . My velvet wedding day waist coat from 1994. It still fits!

This week's Macro Mondays Group theme of "Buttons and Bows" reminded me of a simpler age, many years ago when buttons were saved for reuse and Granny's, or Mum's Button Box became a favourite children's plaything, often being re-imagined as a pirate's treasure chest, a shop's till, or just an intriguing kaleidoscope of memories, shapes, textures and colours!

So, this is my entry for the theme, as one man's trash is another man's treasure! HMM

Boot lace tying practice! Will work on double bows next
