This week's Macro Mondays Group theme of "Buttons and Bows" reminded me of a simpler age, many years ago when buttons were saved for reuse and Granny's, or Mum's Button Box became a favourite children's plaything, often being re-imagined as a pirate's treasure chest, a shop's till, or just an intriguing kaleidoscope of memories, shapes, textures and colours!

So, this is my entry for the theme, as one man's trash is another man's treasure! HMM

This is a button from my chimney sweep. He should bring me luck.

Das ist ein Knopf von meinem Schornsteinfeger. Er sollte mir Glück bringen :-)

I wish you a nice start of the week :-)

And a few other pieces of my mother's old jewelry. Wonder how often these were worn, decades ago!

I used to teach kindergarten and collected buttons to teach sorting and patterns. The bottom row of black buttons for instance could be sorted by color, shape or how many button holes the button has. In the middle row I found buttons that resembled a bow. I'm retired from teaching but never did get rid of my button collection. I probably have over 500. I knew there would come a time when I could use them again.

Some serendipity with this shot - the flash was not charged so it did not fire and the shot was seriously underexposed. I boosted the exposure a lot in Lightroom and I am very pleased with the way the white translucent button caught the light from the window, which became the main light source . I hope you like it.

Monday December 4th : Buttons and Bows

My quick take on this week's Macro Monday theme "buttons and bows". I will be busy tomorrow (Monday) so shot it today.

For the theme Buttons and Bows. My mom gave me a can of buttons when I got married, many moons ago. Poor mom......Making sure I was a good wife. I never used any of these buttons, but will keep them for the rest of my life, because.....mom.

No more than 3" or 7.5 cm (including negative space) - though going to the limits - the buttons are only 1.1 cm (0.43 inches) in diameter and the bow is 1.2 cm broad (0.472 inches)

"Buttons and bows" - I had to brood about this theme... buttons I do own a lot and bows aren't scarce good when Christmas is approaching ...

But: Which are really my favourite buttons?

There are only two, that will "win the race": the snooze button of my clock (ouch!) and the on buttons of my (little) coffee pad machine!! ; ) .. the shutter release button of my camera surely is unrivalled !!

As my snooze button is not really photogenic and there is nothing better than a cup of really hot and strong coffee in the morning, there was only one button left ..

This coffee maker is a very small and slim custom model (as I do not have the space for those bulky ones), hence the little buttons are on the top of the machine ...

I used the lilac face of a gold foil as background ... ... and I even found an appropriate ribbon for my favorite buttons .. : )

Happy Macro Monday everybody !!

I tried and tried to spin a button like a coin but could never get a good focus with my macro lens. Finally, I gave up and shot this.

7DWF - Mondays: Free Theme

This weeks 'Macro Mondays effort, on the theme of 'buttons and bows.Another struggle until I happened upon these tiny pin buttons in amongst some christmas tat in the local supermarket. HMM y'all!

The 12/4/17 topic for #MacroMondays is #ButtonsAndBows. This button is located just forward of the trigger guard on my shotgun and serves as the safety switch. The gun has been stored unused in a case for quite a few years, and it felt good to throw it to my shoulder after all those years. Glad MM gave me an excuse to uncase it.

Wasn't sure if I had any bows, but then remembered I still had the box with one on from Christmas last year as I liked the box and bow.

Always a button around, that needs sewing back on to whatever it came off!!

Better viewed large and thank you for your favourites. :O)
