Quite some years ago I had an even crazier hobby than photography and I used to venture out with a metal detector, hunting for celtic coins in the surrounding farmer's fields.
The English military buttons you see in the picture, I now keep amongst my other finds in a collector's folder.
HMM everybody!
Black buttons on a black corduroy jacket sleeve.
small LED lights with red and blue gel to give some colour and reflect some light.
This is a set of six enamelled brass buttons that once belonged to my aunt. Each button is about 18mm in diameter and they probably date from around 1900. I tried to come up with a clever way of presenting them but every attempt seemed to detract from their appearance. In the end I just laid them out as they might have appeared on a card when they were first sold.
Not a lot of spare time this week but I DID shoot a lot of buttons. I may post some others later. These are fairly good sized (1/2" ??) OLD white shell buttons threaded by my Granny onto a heavy brown cord ( cause she never wasted ANYTHING!) and then finished off with odd knots and a small button sewn crudely to a piece of red cloth tape of some sort. There are a LOT of white buttons and then a lot more loose in the biscuit tim. I loved Granny, the buttons and the button tin! Still do although Granny is long gone.
THANKS SO MUCH TO EVERYONE WHO FAVED AND COMMENTED. YOU ARE VERY KIND!
I was looking for a fun button around our house and still ended up with the this simple and clean photo.
This is my submission for todays Macro Monday theme of "Buttons and Bows". It is the On/Increase Brightness button on one of my small Qubie LED lights that I often use for lighting my Macro Monday projects. They are handy little things.
I like the little line of "in focus" that ripples along the rubber case in this image.
Happy Macro Monday everyone!
Given that the Sun in our region was not visible for last 1.5 months; at 8:30 still dark, and at 16.30 it's already dark, I decided to do something a little sunnier than usual :)
#Macro Mondays. # Buttons and Bows. This is the age of the train - Railway uniform buttons from the LNWR (pre 1923) LMS (pre nationalisation) and BR (probably 1970s).
For Macro Mondays theme 'Buttons and Bows'.
Harry Hippo's 'jamas.
In case you wonder who Harry is, and is it within the 3inch rule, all will be revealed. ;-))
The little buttons on the fly of my well-worn 501 Levi’s® blue jeans proudly proclaim that they were made by Levi Strauss & Company in San Francisco, California, so I am adding this photo to the #MacroMondays group for their #ButtonsandBows theme...
It’s not the photo but the little button itself that is not too sharply defined when blown up to this size!...;-)

Macro of my keyboard buttons re-arranged to create the word bow. HMM everyone!
4th December 2017:
While I was taking my buttons and bows photo for the Macro Mondays group theme for this week. I was also having a play around with dark and light backgrounds with the Panasonic and Fuji to get the best result I could.
The light was horrible, but then it's been like that for ages, so I should be used to it! I took everything out onto the garden table, where I wasn't fighting the inside light and took loads of different photos with both cameras.
The Fuji won out on my Macro Mondays contribution, but also won out when it came to my photo for today.
NB This is NOT my Macro Mondays photo. It's my photo for today for "one photo each day." Here's the link to my MM photo:
