I wanted to start a 365 photo challenge and today's subject was buttons. This was my favorite. I love that something as simple as a button can become so creative.
More beautiful buttons. Its almost a shame to use them.. As my friend says, "Its the thrill of the hunt rather than the kill."
This afternoon I sorted out my button collection. No longer will I have to rummage at the bottom of my sewing box to find them.
For my watercolour students: I've painted the lightest colours of the very large button and it is drying now. For everyone else: yes that is a car: "Lightning McQueen". Our grandson occasionally buries it in buttons.
I have several little cups in my home full of vintage buttons... I collect those too sometimes. I love how different the old ones are. Even in a set each one is slightly different.

A custom order that I recently finished. I have done buttons in the past but not for a long time. They are to be used in a bracelet.
These are sterling silver with a floral patterned brass overlay. Both disks are cupped with the larger sterling disk measuring 5/8" in diameter and the smaller brass disk coming in at 1/2". The holes measure about 2 mm.
tamanho: 3,5 cm de diâmetro

Cheyenne is starting little Buttons, getting him used to human contact and being touched. He was very nervous at first, but he is now much more relaxed and starting to trust her. This is going to take a bit of time because Buttons is 98% wild, and has had very little human contact. In five days he has gone from panicking over everything, to trusting her to tickle his muzzle, and to eat from a bucket she is holding (this entails him putting his eye close to her hand, which requires a great deal of trust on his part.) Well done Buttons and Cheyenne!
Inspired by Adorn magazine's Button article in the Summer '07 issue, I made these button brooches/pendants. I was totally hoarding buttons so it's great to have used a bunch. I had to make mine symmetrical, not random. They've got multiple loops on the back so I can affix/hang them in different ways. I used both wire and colored (matching) hot glue. And the backs are covered in felt.
A bunch of buttons that I made. This is the vector art to fit 1.25" buttons

I keep seeing mushrooms all over and I love mushrooms so I had to do cute little buttons with them on.
I couldn't resist. Here is "Buttons", actually an angora goat and not a llama (mainly because I didn't have a photo of a llama).
Love you guys. Thanks for the laughs. You're all awesome! Have a great day!
From my blogpost today - Here is another example of cool stuff from around the house that you can use for macro photography. For this shot, I just used buttons arranged on a paper plate and shot in existing light with my Canon 28-300mm lens with ISO at 200 and exp at 0.5 sec f/9.0.

Ei se oikeasti ole kokoelma, kun sitä ei ole järjestetty.
Olisiko kasaelma? :-)
Someone had to sort all the colorful buttons - Sabrina was the lucky one. The Crafty Rat associate, carefully sorts one by one. Sabrina is a Poppy Parker 2012 "Chauffer's Daughter" doll and has absolutely no repaint. She belongs to my sister bogostick on flickr and you can see more of this adorable doll at the bogostick photostream.
