I have to say -- even though I'm doing laundry, suffering from a miserable cold and extended SF Giants torture, right now -- I'm having the time of my life while sorting through a lifetime of badges, watching Jon Stewart's Night Of Too Many Stars, and drinking double bourbons on the rocks.

Traveling on the Intracoastal Waterway in Fort Lauderdale, courtesy of the Fort Lauderdale Water Taxi on a gorgeous Saturday afternoon. :) The beginning of the vid shows "Beer Can Island," which is a shallow sand bar that people park their boats at and party, and go in the water. Me, I would never get into the Intracoastal water. God knows what's in there. :D The Water Taxi is a boat service that travels up and down the Intracoastal Waterway between Hollywood and Fort Lauderdale. To get to Hollywood you get off at stop 5 and transfer. We stuck with the Fort Lauderdale route that starts in downtown on the New River, with views of the downtown Riverwalk, and heads south and then east into the Intracoastal, and then back again. The Fort Lauderdale route, without transferring either to Hollywood or the four stop North Loop, takes about 2 hours total. It's $22 for adults, and your ticket is good for all day, unlimited rides at any stop and for any transfer. It makes stops at various hotels, restaurants, shopping areas (like Las Olas Boulevard) and Fort Lauderdale Beach, among other things. It's a great way to be able to see things from the water, giving you a totally different vantage point, and was really fun for us since Tom and I have never done anything like this, either together or on our own. Normally the Water Taxi includes a loudspeaker commentary sort of "tour guide" narration of things you'll see from the boat, but (luckily) for us the first taxi we rode had a busted microphone system, so it was a lot more peaceful. :) Temp was in the high 80s....

This is a pedestrian crossing on a street outside my hotel. You push the button, and these flashing lights come on so that traffic is alerted that it has to stop for you. There are no audible signals for either cars or pedestrians. So why bother to print the sign in Braille?
The "nuclear" red button on my Airzounds. I use it at least twice a ride in my commute. The buses and trucks and cars are crazy in Singapore.
