So after I put my sewing room back together after messing it up last week I finally put up a shelf for my button jars.
Current Peacock button box not big enough for my current button collection. Bought a beautiful wooden box at local antiques fair and now sorting buttons between the two. 1/365
Jenson Button, McLaren at the North hairpin during Saturday's qualifying session.
Jenson took a later turn-in to the hairpin than most other drivers, with the result that in most of my photographs, his car was almost exactly perpendicular to my line of sight.
In April 1955 30 buttons were attached to this 10 3/4'' x 13'' piece of cardboard that was from a sign in Emmaus, PA as seen on the back of this display. Some of the buttons are missing. There seems no theme to this BUTTON DISPLAY CARD so it may have been a child that was given the cardboard and buttons to keep them busy. There are some celluloid buttons, metal buttons, plastic and glass on this display.
THIS CARD IS FOR DISPLAY ONLY-NOT FOR SALE
Here's a fun story you're going to enjoy:
I was at IKEA Burbank (the old one) and, well, nature called.
Sure, like you, I hate using public restrooms, but when ya gotta go, ya gotta go. So I used the facilities.
Now, the terlets, as you insist on pronouncing them, have a button to flush 'em. On the wall. Near this one.
And me, not paying attention — already on edge from using a public restroom — I pressed the wrong button.
So almost immediately, a voice comes booming through the acoustically magnificent restroom:
"Do you need any help?"
And I say "No, it was an accident."
Then the voice says "Hello? Hello? Is there an emergency?"
And then I realize I need to hold the button down to talk, and they're talking when I'm trying to talk, and I'm telling them it was an accident, and they think I had an accident, and then the voice says they are sending "personnel" to assist me.
So then we cut to me quickly exiting said restroom (having quickly washed me hands first, of course), grabbing my startled friend who was waiting outside the bathroom, and telling her, "We have to get the hell out of here, now!"

I came up with these while trying to find a use for all my novelty buttons. The pattern can be found at dishclothdiaries.blogspot.com/
I decided that the ribbon tie on the baby sweater didn't work so well. Instead, I did a crochet chain closure with a cute little button.
The button on its own is lilac, but seen on the blue necklace it's going to be a fastening for, it's blue. I was at the coffee shop while waiting for All Buttons Great and Small to open. I drew the button at home afterwards to give colour to a page with yet another white cup.
Button is a beautiful 9 year old Jack Russell, she has very long hair and likes to bark at dogs on the TV (what dog doesn't). I write this whilst she's is downstairs, in the living room, plonked up against the sofa.
Recently it has become apparent that the illness that she bounced back from so well in February has come back, and unfortunately despite our best efforts we're at the point where the kindest thing is for her to be put to sleep.
It's devastating, I've have spent the past few days trying to remain positive, ensuring that her last days would be as peaceful as possible whilst trying to convince myself that we've made the right decision.
My mum and my sister’s visited last night to say goodbye to her, pictures were taking and kisses exchanged, this afternoon Button will be gone.
At first I was very upset, thoughts were bouncing around my head like had we done our absolute best for her? But now I feel an overwhelming sense of relief, she'll suffer no longer, and even though she won't be around, she'll be in our hearts forever.
-------
I decided to see her after she was put to sleep, she looked ever so peaceful, just as if she was lying in her bed. We're still upset, but also relieved, it cannot have been easy for her over the past few weeks and months.
When we got back into the house the first thing we saw was a photograph of Button lying in the flower bed... a typical day for her really. It's strange but all the photographs we have around the house are now memories, fantastic memories though.
Love you Button
