This is a photo I took at Gamble Gardens in Palo Alto, California. It's an absolutely gorgeous property with so many photo opps. In this set, all the photos have black in there somewhere. I really love the high contrast. I've found that black is great at highlighting beauty. Interesting, eh?!
I've been making these for a few years & recently taught a class how to make them. I use vintage (or vintage looking) salt/pepper shakers or small vintage perfume bottles.
Only vintage buttons are used. Sweet!

I revisited my Lego-compatible disc button design in OpenSCAD and this is what I came up with.

Dr. Manhattan button/logo from the Watchmen. The second in the series I made and easy logo to make since Dr. Manhattan designed it himself in the story.
Vintage bridle button that was found along others in an old dairy barn near Weatherford, OK. The front has a beautiful picture of the Mother Mary with a gold radiance. The back shows nice wear from its use and has a horizontal bar for attaching the button. The paint on the front is in remarkable condition. Button is approximately 1 ¾ inches.
Button passed away in November 2012 after suffering an injury to his good wing. He was paired with Davina. Button was a feral pigeon and couldn't fly due to a broken wing.
Packing up the house for the move. We're trying to get rid of as much unnecessary stuff as possible. Easier said than done for me; I'm an insufferable packrat.
Shown here: a big blue button I made in college so long ago for 3D Concepts (a fine art foundation general requirement course). I think this was made with a styrofoam disc, coated in gesso and paint.

Jenson took a later turn-in to the hairpin than most other drivers, with the result that in most of my photographs, his car was almost exactly perpendicular to my line of sight.
Somebody REALLY wanted to innovate and used this non-standard numeric keypad format in which bottom line is as phones/ITU keyboard and top 3 lines like on PC numeric keypad. This is not recommended as 60% of the time at the least I press wrong numeric code when trying to enter this carwash machine located at Shell gas station at Kaarina, Finland. Better stick 100% to existing standard layouts!
In April 1955 30 buttons were attached to this 10 3/4'' x 13'' piece of cardboard that was from a sign in Emmaus, PA as seen on the back of this display. Some of the buttons are missing. There seems no theme to this BUTTON DISPLAY CARD so it may have been a child that was given the cardboard and buttons to keep them busy. There are some celluloid buttons, metal buttons, plastic and glass on this display.

Instructions
Melt hole in hat.
Thread both ends cord through hat.
Knot cord above hat.
Thread both ends cord through head & buttons. Trim frayed edges cord as necessary.
Thread only one end cord through feet buttons.
Knot when finished.
